What an absolute mess this is Wilson, Becton, Fant, Thomas, McDermott....unbelievable and so typical, when this shit stops happening, we will hopefully improve. Not until then, because they've never shown, that we can win when guys are injured.
Objectively, the only real worry is RT. Fant on the left is good. Hopefully a combo of avt and Conklin sandwiching Mitchell will be enough support to keep things somewhat afloat on the right side. It takes a weapon out of the passing game but it can be made to work. Probably a lot of 2 tight end sets coming this weekend.
. Reminds me of that time we threw GB’s undrafted FA at center and watched BAL separate Mark Sanchez’s soul from his body on opening day. Rex was real excited about that kid’s progress too.
We'll see. Max may get an extended look at RT if Brown's injury puts him on IR. Nothing like Trial by Fire to see what you got in your rookie OT. Hoping for some positive luck for us for a change and Max is at least serviceable.
Not an ideal start to the 2022 season so far for the Jets. I feel like the Jets confidence in Max Mitchell can not be that much if they paid all that money to Brown. Hope he finds a way to step up and play solid on the right side.
what he was supposed to do was re-sign his starting RT to the reasonable contract his starting RT was asking for. Instead what they did was name a fat, lazy, underachieving and always injured player the de facto starter at RT, the position he never even played, because they couldn’t stomach the fact it was a shitty pick. Becton did not deserve to be named a starter. We could’ve signed Moses for less money than we paid a 37 has been off the street and even gotten more years out of it. Tell Becton he has to earn a starting job by beating one of the starters that took his job due to his incompetence. Not hand it to him. At best maybe Becton finally lights a fire under his own ass, at worst he cries himself through a pile of White Castle burgers and does what he does best-misses games. Yet here we are with Becton doing what every motherfucker with half a brain knew he’d be doing, and now Max Mitchell is our answer. And if Douglas was too fucking proud to sign Moses because it’d mean he actually admits the mistake of his shitty draft pick, then he should have been targeting Ekwonu or Neal instead of Sauce. Frankly he should have been taking one of them anyway, what part of “protect your young QB” is somehow lost on every regime we employ?
No it was not expected. Brown was a pro bowler last year, hasn't missed a game, and has been staying in shape. He didn't retire, he was looking for a right contract while working out. Then had a good preseason game (rated 90 by pff). Yes he is old, but he was durable. I certainly am very surprised he ended up on IR so quickly. I agree JD could have done more, but to have both LTs Becton and Brown on IR to start season is not something that he or anyone else could have honestly anticipated and have a second starting caliber tackle on the bench. He did draft Max Mitchell as an emergency upgrade over McDermot and Edoga. And it is emergency now, let's see what Max got.
Becton was not our LT. He lost that job, they already announced Fant was the LT before Becton’s inevitable injury. Becton was announced as the starter at RT over Moses. THAT was the biggest mistake and why we’re in this situation now.
