Well I'm just as surprised as most of y'all. Initially when he injured himself on that play and it wasn't an ACL but a meniscus injury. I was always a bit skeptical that he would potentially be a week one starter. It just seemed to soon, hence why I was fine with Flacco starting week one. With that said, unless he slightly reinjured or aggravated something during his workout, I too have concerns on why up until four days from the beginning of the season this is dropped on our lap. Two days ago it was still open for him to start week one, and now he's gonna miss close to a month? I'm not a doctor and I don't know the time table of this particular injury, but you have professionals who are working for this staff, and they couldn't properly diagnose this from the start? That's very inept of the team doctors and management as a whole. Flacco it is. Better to have veteran experience to start this AFC North roll coaster ride in the first four weeks. But this is a major kick to the balls, and I have concerns about how upper management is handling our players as of now.
Yeah, the biggest issue here was Saleh's comments on Monday and Tuesday. Why talk that way? All he had to say was Zach is working his way back and not quite ready vs. Baltimore. Instead he said he looked good and was close and it was possible he could play Sunday. If he said he was OUT Sunday, everyone would have understood. Then he could return to practice Week 2. All would make sense. Don't want to rush him back, so fans think Week 3 he could play. They could rule him out early that week and move the focus to Week 4 at Pittsburgh. That would have been fine. I doubt anyone would be too upset. Handling it like this was awful though and could have fans turn on Saleh and staff, especially if Baltimore blows them out.
Not sure how that is spin? I am happy I now know that ZW will not return until at least week 4 and I will not be waiting every Wednesday to be disappointed. I never said anything about keeping the Raven's on their toes. I think you might have me mixed up with someone else. My statement had nothing to do with Saleh being good or bad but simply that I appreciate knowing what to expect. There is no spin here. Just happy to get information even if the information is bad.
Have to think they knew the entire time he’d be out longer. Their failure to be upfront and honest speaks to ticket sales perhaps…
I really want to give Saleh the benefit of the doubt and believe he received new info over the last 24 hours. But then he needs to address the reality of public perception and be more forthcoming. Maybe this is his 60% moment.
Knew had to swell up after 2 practices, or didn’t respond well in some other fashion. That’s the only non emotional explanation based on what we’ve been told . So , rather than try it out every week there going to rest it for 3 weeks .
Doesn't sound like he re-injured himself based on this clip. Towards the end Saleh says, "He hasn't had a set-back. He looks fantastic. He still looks good, he feels good, and you guys are gonna get a chance to talk to him you'll see, he's not walking with a limp or anything." No clue what to think of this though. Makes no sense to me how Sunday was still an option yesterday but now he's gonna be out at least 3 weeks. Frustrating.
I honestly want to agree with your first line as well. I just can't imagine how one could completely miss handle the reporting. But then again as someone mentioned earlier they did the same with Becton last year.
I'll help you there...he's not. He's a smaller qb that's been Injured twice in the 1st 2 years of his career. He was hurt and missed time in college, too. I don't care if he's fucking Johnny Unitas, if he can't stay healthy and fucking play week in and week out he is NOT our guy.
This makes sense. Monday, Saleh said they wanted to see how his knee responded on Wednesday to his workout on Monday. But, we don't know and it's conjecture. It makes sense that something changed form Monday to Wednesday. But, again we are guessing. Give it a few days and maybe one of the beat writers will have inside info?
I understand the decision. I just don't like the way Saleh has been delivering the news to us. I still like him, but I am liking him less. I am finding his words to be not exactly credible. Let's put it that way.
Right. That is my issue with it. He said he did not re-injure it. He looks good. Yet out til Week 4 at the earliest? It doesn't add up. He is either a liar or incompetent. Hopefully a liar but why lie about that? Makes no sense to me. Yeah, I hope that is the case too. Like @FJF wrote, swelling or something not feeling right in his knee would make sense, yet that is not what Saleh said. Just odd to me.
Oh, I've just gotten word why yesterday Zach could play this week, but now it's another month. Woody was part of the decision..... The Jets Shop at MetLife has racks and racks of Flacco jerseys that need to be sold. Black ones, green ones, White ones, those blue and gold ones from 15 years ago...
It def is a bummer but I hope he does come back by week 4. Cannot have him not play, don't rush anything but let's not coddle the kid either
I'll bring the pitchforks, you bring the torch... wait a minute this is way too rational... where's the riot?
