I believe you’re overthinking it. An election doesn’t need to be “rigged”. He’s well liked and he plays the most important position. If you were on the team, who would you vote for as offensive captain?
This is why it comes down to whether or not Zach is fully recovered. If he is, we can't just hide him every time a decent defense comes along. If he is still only 80%, he shouldn't be playing against anyone.
If he’s healthy he will play, it’s as simple as that. They are not going to hold him out because they are play the big bad scary Ravens, nor should they.
George Fant But I agree, it doesn’t need to be rigged, that was Waterboy’s term. I suspect they went around and said “hey on offense we are voting for Zach because he’s the QB. Standard procedure”
Of course it is rigged. How would anyone ever vote for Zach Wilson. The team knows he sucks and would never be voted Captain on his own Merit. Not that hard guys,
He is the unquestioned leader of the offense. He works hard and has spent he off-season getting everyone else together and on the same page. Of course he is the captain. A better question is will he be the captain come this time next year? Most likely, but recall at BYU he temporarily lost his place as captain after year 2. Hopefully he has a more healthy year and we can get a better gauge of what kind of progress he is or is not making.
I thought I heard something weird yesterday afternoon on the radio that he was going to practice today but I could be wrong on that.
He went back to team drills last week working on the side. He did a workout Monday that went well and they are waiting to see how his knee responds to that workout to see if he will practice this week and possibly play Sunday. Today is 3 weeks from the date of surgery. Last year he fully practiced for 2 weeks after injury before returning. This year Saleh said if his knee is ready he will play. There is a lot of wiggle room in his statements for them to do whatever they want but they seem like they really want him to play if he is healthy. I would just expect them to be extra cautious.
oh he’s questioned that’s for sure. There were a lot of questioning body language on that sideline last year. I would be more concerned if you were right. Thankfully I think you are wrong
What is wrong with you Noam? Zach sucks and his teammates think so as well. They only reason they voted Zach for Captain was because they were coerced.
No doubt about it. You have to see what this guy has and "shielding" him from top-tier opponents is not the way. Granted, I'm skeptical he's "ready". He missed a lot of key reps over the last 2 weeks and conditioning probably plays a big role here. My guess is the Jets are throwing smokescreens to the Ravens to they have to prepare for 2 QBs. Flacco probably starts.
You said Wilson was a fake captain, what should I have taken from than other than you thought the election was rigged? I think it is comical that you think they went around and told everyone to vote for Zach. That would also indicate you think it was rigged.
We are talking about a patch on the jersey. Why do you think it's a fair, sanctioned election? It's a PR thing. It always has been in the NFL. Tua, & Tyreek Hill are the captains in Miami, do they strike you as captain material? How about Kyler Murray in Arizona? He doesn't watch film, he's the first guy out of the facility but he's a team captain? come on now
I've never heard of any organization that didn't name a QB "Captain". It's a position of authority and a given for that particular title. I'm in complete agreement though that the title itself is nothing more then a PR stunt to get the fans attention. NFL locker rooms have real leaders who command respect, Zach isn't one of them as of yet.

Some struggle with pre snap, others can overcome it with sheer talent. Like check out Allen’s for example. I think it’s important not to box Zach in…let his natural talents fly. I know it’s important to “operate” the offense but it’s also just as important to let Zach be Zach. Those unscripted plays, we know he can do this. I just hope he continues to play loose out there.
