I dont understand the fake "QB Battle." They had Darnold last year, and they watched him suck, which is the exact reason they went out and traded for a QB. If they didnt think Baker was a better option, they wouldnt have traded for him. Baker is the starter and he became that the second they made the trade. They aren't going to repeat what they watched last year with Sam. That makes no sense.

Sam seems like a real decent kid. Not cut out to be an NFL QB however.

Shitty organizations don't make sense, the Panthers are one of those.

It's a shame that Sam Darnold doesn't have a fire in him. Not saying that it would make his career any different, but the guy is just so dull and uninspiring on the field. That and he turns the ball over to much. He reminds of a linebacker playing QB most times.

    Matt Rhule is gone.

No way can he survive this mess that is the QB in Carolina. Shades of dead HC like gase/Nagy.

Yeah, I don't see any way that he survives this season, short of Mayfield using that chip on his shoulder from the Watson/Browns situation and having it fuel a season from him that virtually nobody is expecting. It certainly doesn't seem like a team that's ready for playoff contention, and then add that the fact that their best player can't keep himself on the field, it's definitely not the best of times in Carolina, to put it mildly.

Baker named week 1 starter against the Browns. Poor Sam, even with a year under his belt he couldn't beat a guy who showed up this past summer coming off an injury.

Baker and Sam are both no better than they were as rookies. Ofc Baker was better as a rookie, so he's still better now. But it's sad that neither one improved in the NFL.

Spot on. Baker is just better though, but neither are franchise guys. It's almost crazy that Allen and Jackson went below them at this point. Allen small school and accuracy issues, and some scouts thought Lamar as a WR.

The scouts were stupid about Jackson. Allen really did have those issues, and he was terrible as a rookie. But he worked his ass off and corrected his issues, which is something Mayfield and Darnold never did.

Darnold was carted off in yesterday’s game with a reported high ankle sprain. Poor Sam - #3 pick to starter to traded to backup to injured. It’s been pretty much straight down for him from the start.

Mayfield has major upside potential on the next stretch of his career.

He's one of those guys with no doubts when he's on the field and that's half the battle.

I was pissed at the Allen pick, but when they interviewed Beane at the draft about it, he said something that really stood out and I never forgot. He said something to the affect of “we liked multiple qbs, but they all have flaws, and we just felt like Allen had the mental makeup to be able to correct/overcome his flaws.” I thought that was really interesting and never forgot that. Turned out he was right all along.

This is a classic example and breeding ground for why athletes who have no Plan B for life after football sometimes bottom out and hit the skids. IMO the best plan is to go to school with the whole idea that you're going to flunk out in the NFL and not the other way around.

If someone like Robbie Anderson the Genius suffered a career ending injury I honestly don't know if the guy can even read a weekly flyer at the supermarket let alone let alone pass a college level class. Did he? o_O Good luck, Sam. Invest wisely. Sigh.
