The Jets will trade Mims to a team that will throw the ball downfield (like the Packers or the Bengals), where he will catch 7 or 8 touchdowns and annoy me greatly for the next 10 years.
If a trade is only going to fetch a fifth round pick then keep him. They drafted him only two years ago and he did show some flashes his rookie season. Injuries can happen….Davis, Moore, Wilson, Barrios, and Mims. Smith is decent too…..That’s a solid solid group as is.
Honestly, it's not just this preseason game, but all training camp has been good. And you can't teach his physical abilities. We only have Davis as a WR with size. And injury to Davis, and we are midgets at WR. Mims looks like he is finally ready to realize his potential. Tough call for JD, but anything less than a 4th round pick would be a bad idea IMO. Heck, even the 4th is a tough call at this point.
Good job of featuring him today; he made several nice catches but what jumped out at me is he simply doesn't create separation. 2nd half/ playing against guys that are unlikely to make an NFL team and he is still making contested catches because his route running is so bad. If I were the FO and could get a conditional 5th or better I would take it; He is the 5th or 6th WR on this team and they may think they have a rookie with similar role that they can develop on the PS and without the attitude.
Well done Denzel. Best game he's produced as a Jet and took his chance today. I feel he won a roster spot today and feel we will still trade him if a good offer comes in. However, he's on the team until an acceptable offer arrives. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
I mean.. If you really break this down. It just makes me question the CS even further. This was the most opportunity I've truly seen him get with this CS... I would imagine because of the trade speculation.. He just goes out there and Is productive. YET AGAIN. When given opportunity. I hope that this wakes the CS up a little because I think this kid Is much better than a lot of people give him credit for.
I only saw the first half and Mims had 1 catch for 11 yards. Not sure shining against people who will be out of the league on tuesday does much for his cred.
I responded earlier in this thread with the same thing… you keep talking about how he produces “yet again” but don’t bring up how he fucks up equally as bad each time. This is the first game I can remember where he had a net positive impact and it came against the third string of a bottom 5 team. Do I think he’s better than he’s been made out to be? Yes. Do I think he deserves to be on the roster? Yes. Has he helped his case over the last three years before today? Nope.
I don’t think he played much in the first half…they put him in the second half and he caught everything thrown his way except one on the sideline that would’ve been a tough catch. I get the frustration of not getting reps … you can only play when they put you in, but at least today I saw him catch the balls that came to him, I didn’t see any stupid penalties, and I saw him stick it out when he looked like he hurt his ankle it was a good performance, though as others have pointed out it was against 2nd and 3rd stringers….
I'm going postal at One Jets Drive if they even take a phone call inquiring about Denzel Mims in trade. His play today was nothing short of courageous and it's obvious the Giants 3nd and 3rd stringers could not defend him. He's earned the right to play with the starting offense and if I were Corey Davis I'd be worrying about my job security.....
7 catches out of 8 targets I believe and 100 yds and a big **** you to the CS. We shall see what happens...
