I used that term - FQB - loosely, in the sense of why would you trade or draft for anything less than that? And obviously we're talking about potential FQB, or do I need to qualify every reference to a team's starting QB with the word "potential"?
You did qualify the term "QB" by adding the "F". Wilson is no "FQB," Douglas has never gotten an "FQB". It takes a lot more than just being number one on the depth chart to get there. It's pretty easy to just use the term "QB" all by itself, no qualification required.
The facts are clear that ZW a number 2 draft pick set NO rookie records and he underperformed versus other rookies like Mack Jones and Trevor Lawrence imo But what do I know?? ...you seemed convinced Zach is a Francise quarterback but as I requested from you offer no stats to back that up...stand or sit you could be wrong lol And Hall compared to Eric Dickerson ? Who's doing that? Gimme a break ...Are you a "normal person"??
Yes, we agree on the facts. ZW was the #2 overall pick and set no records. Everything else is debatable. Underperformed? Meh. Idk how realistic your expectations were. I believe ZW is a franchise QB? I can’t find a post of me making that claim, if you can lmk. You asked me for stats? I don’t remember you seeing a request but I’m open to the possibility you asked and I ignored. You act like comparing ZW to a record setting QB is normal so it seems like doing the same thing to a RB is the next step…. You are right, it’s insane to do… but why do you think it’s less insane when talking about the QB? In an attempt to understand where you’re coming from, I am humbly requesting you explain the difference. I agree with the 2 facts you mention early in your post but the conclusions you draw and the way you reached those conclusions lack logic. Finally, you’re right -sane and logical we’re both far better word choices than “normal” *To clarify, my stated stance is that it’s too early to judge ZW as a FQB but imo the current staff has shown an ability to identify talent for this system. Anecdotal leans me to believe he’ll be fine but I’m not trying to pass off opinion as fact. The people who pass off their gut feelings as fact bother both in this forums and in life. It’s the dumbing down of America. You are entitled you your own opinion; you are not entitled to your own facts. I love hearing other peoples opinion, especially when it comes with supporting facts. Unfortunately most opinions I see come with ether no supporting facts or heavily flawed supporting facts.
Well Lawrence did not outperform him by any significant measure, and Mac Jones went into a FAR better situation. Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars 3-14 record 359-for-602, 59.6% 3,641 yards, 6.0 Y/A, 214.2 Y/G 12 TDs, 17 INTs 71.9 passer rating 73 rush attempts, 334 yards, 2 TDs Zach Wilson, Jets 3-10 record 213-for-383, 55.6% 2,334 yards, 6.1 Y/A, 179.5 Y/G 9 TDs, 11 INTs 69.7 rating 29 rushing attempts, 185 yards, 4 TDs
The thing to realize about a franchise QB is that 90% of the time you know he's it from his first game on the field for you. 90% of the other guys will never amount to anything more than an NFL backup. There are a very small number of QB's that stumble a bit for a year or two and then turn out to be genuine franchise QB's. The only guys currently playing who struggled their first two seasons were Josh Allen and Matthew Stafford and Stafford was hurt multiple times his second season and finally IR'd. He looked pretty good in the minimal opportunities he got that year.
