Does anyone know of Zach played long enough to clear the emotional hurdle of playing? Or does he need a makeup game for that?
The smart move is to let Flacco start the Ravens game - even if Zach is declared fit to play. Flacco is older, more experienced, and knows the Ravens blueprint. I know most of the players have changed since he was there but the philosophy hasn’t. The Ravens D can rattle young QBs like Zach but not Flacco. Flacco may wind up stinking up the joint - who knows - but at least it wouldn’t be on account of getting rattled.
i honestly wouldn’t be mad at letting him take the first few games, seeing if he looks good and if not Give it back to ZW. Or if he does look good letting ZW sit and learn until he gets it.
Sure depending on how he plays against the Ravens. If Flacco plays well and gets a W it would be folly to sit him for week 2 - a road game.
BN. Not able to follow the threads due to my travels. What is the issue? Let us discuss these among ourselves. Send me the names and I will start a Private Message group chat to talk things out.
Seemed like a solid day still even with the pick. Not every day is going to be 4 TDs and no picks. I am now thinking Zach is coming back more likely Week 3 than 2. If you look at 4 week timeline that puts us on the 13th. At least that week would be limited, maybe with the second team. That means Flacco would start on the 20th. Then full week of practice with the starters, and Zach should be ready to go. Hoping we are 1:1 at that time, then Zach starts week 3 and doesn't miss any more games.
Brady Quinn today on Zach Wilson. It is really hard to disagree with these points.... “Can we acknowledge, once again, the media just continually tries to make [Wilson] something? They want so badly for this to work out, and it’s kind of tough, honestly, to listen to," Quinn said, adding: “I’ve not seen a quarterback get more love for doing less from the media than Zach Wilson in a long time.” -- Describing Wilson's preseason game as "awful" he continued: "The interception he threw in that game, it looked like day one. Game one, year one, he stared down a target, and was it [Eagles linebacker] Kyzir White ended up picking it off, and I’m going, that is as easy as it gets." -- personally it reminds me a little of Jake Locker, Titans QB a little while back. He was always getting good headlines but he wasnt actually ever good. Why do they pick out certain guys to hype up and other guys to tear down?
Who is hyping up Zach? The biggest "hype" I heard that compared to some other second year QBs, like Fields for example, he has the same system, same coaches around him, and the Jets actually added some talent compared to last year, when he was throwing to likes of Tariq Black, Montgomery, Dan Brown. So, he has a chance to succeed. I don't think there are too many media outlets "hyping" him. More like Zach needs to prove himself and he has continuity and some weapons around him to make it happen.
Zach is the starting QB of a major market NFL team. Of course there's hype... But that interception bothered me more than hin not running out of bounds. That int. was brutal for a 2nd year qb with a bunch of games under his belt. He has flashed some elite arm... but the position demands much more. Vision... quick decisions... patience. He's shown little of that.
Orlovsky, Cris Collinsworth, and Chad Johnson are the only three that come to mind when they compare him to Mahomes/Rodgers.
