Yes I agree with the point that the OC needs to understand players strengths and game plan to maximize those. But so what if he’s so good at short passes within 5 yards in less than 2 seconds to the middle of the field…a star QB has to be great at way more than that. Maybe the quote was taken out of context, but to see it like that, it just sounds like another apologetic/excuse laden stat to pull out. I’ll say this…I’m hopeful he can put it together and become a top ten QB for us….but I’m not as confident on that as many others here are…I saw a LOT of bad stuff last year, I saw a lot of excuses made (many of which were legitimate especially OL and receiver depth), so I think he can and should be much better this year because I think both of those areas have improved. We’ll see how it pans out. I’m not going to overreact to 5 throws in the first preseason game…but he has to look much better this year. and hopefully he can be in the top half of the league in a lot more than just short throws less than 5 yards over the middle within two seconds.
