Great duel between deGrom and Nola. I love these type of matchups even though I want the Mets to win.
Don't agree with the decision to pull deGrom here - these games matter, and the Mets' 7th/8th inning relief pitching is hardly shutdown.
Agreed, also I'd like to see Jacob go at least 7 innings especially if he is pitching like he did tonight going forward. He's a veteran and he had 2 starts already to get back into the swing of things, no pun intended. Lets let him go one more inning heading into the playoff stretch.
Wonder if they are gonna let him go further in his next starts. He’s slotted to go up against Atlanta and then the Yankees
Drew Rasmussen of the Rays took a perfect game into the 9th inning on 79 pitches, but gave up a double on the 80th pitch.
Left groin tightness for Guillorme, imaging tomorrow. Losing him would be as much of a blow in the field as at the plate. Will #2 prospect Brett Baty be coming up to the bigs?
A little more nerves-inducing than a 6-0 game should be, but Mets take 2 of 3. Heading down to Atlanta with a 5 1/2 game lead.
Another big series vs Atlanta. Heard yesterday that Acuna left the DH on Saturday in the 7th inning of the 2nd game? Haven't heard anything on him so who knows what his availability is tonight and for the rest of the series.
Oof brutal game but it's only 1. Rally back and get the next against the braves important series here
Not just an ass-kicking, but Carrasco left the game with tightness (the last time that happened, Scherzer was out for a month), and Guillorme is expected to be out 4-to-6 weeks. The Mets have been pretty fortunate with injuries this year, but this is absolutely the wrong time for their luck to change. Nido has also been put on the IL for no specific reason, which usually means COVID-related. He's actually been half-decent at the plate since the All-Star game, so that's also too bad.
Oh my God, Walker is out after two shutout innings, presumably because of an injury that wasn't at all apparent. All of a sudden the injury wheels are falling off the train.
