The states I've lived/been to you can get the same weed as the people with medical cards, but yes one of the reasons there's still a black market is price. Another is the amount of plants one can grow. In MA for example, a household can grow 6 plants if there's 1 adult and 12 if there's 2. That's an ton of weed, anywhere from 20-30 ounces. If you are real good at it you can have 3-4 cycles a year. About a year ago I was given weed from my wife's step mom, I smoke 1-2 times at night and I still have over half the amount left. She literally had so much she was giving it away in enormous quantities. I highly anticipate the amount one can grow to be severely reduced in the long run.
