I'm not taking a shot at you at all, because I have no idea how old you are, but I'm in a 40-year plus rut of this. It literally seems never ending.
Here I thought my Jets would be a welcome change from the KD - Kyrie drama. After all this time I should have known better.
When did we ascend to mediocrity? This franchise has only sniffed the playoffs once in the past 11-12 years. That's not mediocrity.
It's very simple - we expect things to go wrong; we don't delude ourselves into thinking there's a reason to expect anything better this time just because there's a new GM, a new coach, a new quarterback or kicker or this year's version of the next phenom, or last year's. We understand the only thing these guys promise us is a chance to be better, that it's not a foregone conclusion they will be because they're new and had some degree of success at a lesser level and they must prove themselves in the NFL to earn our trust. We have listened to decades of hype from the organization and the Johnny-come-lately hero worshipping fans who demand the instant adoration of anybody wearing the ugly new uniforms and we're smart enough or maybe just experienced enough to know that none of it matters except that which happens within the gridiron with the clock running. And we've warned you.
I think the trick is to view the team as a source of comedy instead of as a professional football team. Kind of like following politics these days.
