Limped off the practice field favoring the same leg he injured last season. This could be catastrophic.....
He prayed to me a few nights ago that he doesn’t want to play this season. Don’t listen to the reports that he’s fine, he is 100000% out for the season. Sorry.
Hopefully Becton is okay and it is not serious. His lack of stability is worrying though. He plays such an important position. His size is his greatest strength but also a weakness due to durability. I honestly feel bad for him because he seems like a great guy. I also wonder if that knee injury last year was even worse than they said. Might be something he will have to deal with the rest of his career, unfortunately.
Did anyone think this would turn out any different? I honestly think that he didn't rehab correctly during the off-season. Between the weight and impact all that weight puts on an already surgically repaired knee doesn't help. Becton needs aggressive, heavy weight training based rehab. He needs the surrounding muscles or the quad/hamstring to be stronger to compensate for the knee. The brace helps with stabilization but can't overcome weakness. I truly feel that he doesn't take football serious. Constantly overweight, always injured, and obviously the rehab of these injuries hasn't helped. JD needs to sign a legit backup now. Edoga, how is that guy still on the team. McDermott, he needs to go with Edoga. There is no depth behind Fant and Becton
Idk. Part of me feels like these injuries happen because he tries to short cut being in shape. Came in out of shape last year, tried to use camp to get in shape ended up A. Playing poorly and B. Got hurt, not his fault, but never saw the field again for what was a 6-8 week injury according to doctors. First showed up (OTAs?) this year looking fat again. Came back when camp started looked much thinner and in shape. It's like when you had a week to do a report and did in the final night. Seems like he crammed in trying to get into shape between his first appearance and the start of camp. He was getting winded every practice, then gets hurt. Being tired, or out of shape greatly increases a chance of injury. I just don't buy what he's doing right now as a professional.
