Troll a paddle tail and a diving plug.... and keep a spinner ready with your lure of choice.

I may try for some big ocean fishies from the kayak on saturday

    https://www.tackleworld.com/collections/power-handle..

I got all my Power Handles from these guys. They used to be known as Jigging World. Fast shipping and reasonable rates. Give them a look see and you might find something you like. I put mine on myself BTW. Its not complicated at all.

Wifey's job might take her back to Gloucester, MA in October. If she goes, I get to fish Stellwagen bank again for big Cod, Pollock and Haddock. Last trip, my SPJ gear worked wonders using 220g flat fall jigs. Depths range from 200-300ft. #Can'tWait

I got a striped bass charter on 8/20 out of Gloucester. I'm going with my father in-law and brother in-law.

I'm thinking about a Tuna trip one of these days. Maybe not this year but certainly on my to-do list in '23.

There's a really large lake/reservoir just west of I-684 in NY. (Rye Lake?) It always seems inviting and the several times I've passed it on the way back to PA, it always seems to be calling my name... :)

I'm going to the night before and staying in Shirley, MA. We are going to get up early and head to Gloucester, fish for the day and then head back to his house to spend the night.

So I caught a fluke and lost it bringing it into the boat. First one I've ever caught so hard for me to judge size, but it looked like a keeper to me. Really wish I got it into the boat for a picture.

I also caught a sea robin. That was a first as well. They fight pretty well but man are are ugly.

All in all it was a great day in the water with my father in-law. We probably pedalled 7 miles.

I didn't have a net with me. Probably should bring one next time, huh?

I would... Normally you net Fluke as their mouths are so thin that more often than not, you'll pull the hook and/or lose the fish if you try to lift into the boat/kayak. Same goes for Tautog (Blackfish).

I made just about every mistake you could on that fish, starting with a weak hook set. Live and learn.

Looks like creeks I fish for them
To be fair, I've made every mistake landing inshore shallow water flounder in that video including losing them while reaching for the net

Ran my boat "offshore" yesterday... burn a bunch of ga$ to go 0-3 on kingfish... and missed a shot at a tarpon on the way in :mad::(

Is that something you take out with you on fishing charters?

Yep.. Good for boat or beach. Sometimes charter boats are smallish and have their own cooling solutions. I'll let you know how it does on a headboat. Got a trip coming up for Tile again 8/14-17. I might use it OR my coffin box. This is the marine version of the cooler.

Those things are SOLID (and made in America I believe)... but I think theyre a bit too solid for me to want to drag to the boat ;)

I recently picked up one of these at my local tackle shop.... A smaller kill bag for inshore & the kayak. For $44, not bad

Speaking of coolers, last month the local ACE was having an anniversary sale. They mailed out flyers with a serious typo. They listed this cooler for $60... I knew it had to be wrong, so I made sure I was there when they opened (it's 3 miles from my house)... was supposed to be $60 OFF.

They honored the ad for the first batch on the shelf (1 per person) SCORE

Didnt really need it but how can you refuse basically a YETI 45 for $60

Nice.. Thought I recognized the design. Its definetly a YETI baseline. BTW, IGLOO is shipping me a second cooler that I didn't order. I emailed them today because the CS agent did me a solid and overnighted my cooler free of charge. I didn't want her to get in trouble if and when they inventory and find a second cooler had been shipped. Maybe they stop the shipment or maybe they let me keep the second one. Either way, I just wanted to make sure my CS agent wasn't on the hook for the screw up. These coolers ain't cheap. Yes, they are made in Katy, TX.
34lbs but I still think that number is a bit exaggerated. Perhaps fully loaded with ice but I think deadweight is closer to 15lbs.
