First 5 games as follows Ravens @ Jets Jets @ Browns Bengals @ Jets Jets @ Steelers Dolphins @ Jets I say we find a way to win 2 of those games and start the season 2-3 and finish the season 7-10 or better. What is your take?
I voted for 3-2. Probably a touch optimistic to start out, given how young the team is, but it I really believe that this team is on an upswing
The NFL is generally about mean reversion. They designed the entire league to maximize it. Maybe the mean reversion will finally go our way. Against my better judgement I voted 3-2. I give us very little chance vs. the Bengals but the rest of the games are theoretically winnable.
4-1 if they steer clear of injuries. I really think people are underestimating how much this team has improved on both sides of the ball.
0-5. We are underdogs in all 5 and heavy underdogs in 2 maybe 3. 1-4 would sound pretty good. We have a very good chance of starting 0-11. I don't mean to be negative or spoil the positive vibes party but being a Jet fan for almost 60 years has taught me to have low expectations. I agree the team is vastly improved but the AFC is stacked with really good teams and our schedule is brutal. Until they show me they not only play competitively but can win games. I will expect lots of losses and hope mu predictions are very wrong.
You gotta beat the dolphins at home. No more excuses there It would be nice to win a game in September for once too 3-2 should be the goal, 2-3 you fall a little short but less than that and it’s a big disappointment
For the sake of this fan base it better be 2-3 at worst. I don't think they're a playoff team but it's time to show improvement on the field. Be competitive, win games in September/October. I'd feel confident against Browns without Watson and Rudolph/Mitch/Pickett led Steelers.
Went with 3-2, Cleveland without Watson and Pittsburgh are winnable, Fins at home is not as likely but also winnable. Plus we beat Cinci last year so who is to say they won't again. As for the Ravens game, Jets put in Lamar Jackson on the first series, Lamar Jackson tries to take it outside on a run and meets up with Lamar Jackson, then the Jets coaching staff realizes they let Lamar Jackson go in FA so, with no one there, Lamar Jackson is able to take off for a 20 yard run. Jets don't make the Lamar Jackson mistake again and shut down Lamar Jackson for the rest of the game. After the game the Jets coaching staff sends a game ball to Lamar Jackson in Chicago. So 5-0 is a possibility.
I went with 2-3. I think there’s a decent chance we can win any of those games. Baltimore and Cincy are the obvious ones that I don’t give us a great shot at but we beat Cincy last year so it’s not out of the realm of possibility. We have to win 2 of @CLE, @PIT, vs MIA. If we can come out of Week 5 at 2-3 or 3-2, that should give us some good momentum going forward.
0-5 you ain't gonna make me optimistic matey. I also won't be disheartened if it comes to true, the 3-2 or better guys will be sick as the proverbial parrot at getting all hoped up again. I'll wait for the results to come in first lol
We have to win at least two games. Being 1-4 or 0-5, with the season being effectively over after five games, would be a complete disaster. I see the Miami game being the critical one. I think we beat Cleveland and Pitt, and I think we will lose to the Bengals and the Ravens. The Miami game is the swing voter. We need to start making a stand in the division and stop being such a doormat. I still think we have questions to answer and it may take time for all this young talent to gel, so I predicted 2-3, but I think 3-2 is only slightly less likely. And hell, we beat the Bengals last year so 4-1 isn't as ridiculous as some people around here seem to think.
You are really not the team you are going to be until week 5 even more so now with the abbreviated pre-season and lack of contact in practice. I will not make any predictions but we can potentially steal a game or two we would not win later in the season or vice versa.
If they start 0-5 Joe Douglas may need to dust off the resume and call some old friends about meeting up after the season
