    What happened?
Joe Biden was supporting Taiwan's independence just a few months ago.
    Strange...

If the reports are accurate, as well as the flight tracking data, Speaker Pelosi will be landing in Taiwan shortly.

Nancy has more balls than most Dem politicians. Everyone knows, including the GOP, that PRoC can take Taiwan whenever they want. Whatever Biden does to put that off benefits Taiwan and that includes some skillful placating Chairman Xi. Just remember a nuclear war in Asia will affect the US West Coast first as weather travels eastwards and the fallout will reach the US Western Mainland in a matter of weeks. The Quid Pro Quo here is that Xi allowed Pelosi to visit Taiwan in return for a public statement saying the US does not support Taiwanese independence. Saves face for both leaders.

    Interesting take.

I thought it was odd that Biden flipped on Taiwan.

Seems like they are having some concerns about Ukraine as well.

Good observation. The only thing I’ll say is that China can theoretically take Taiwan any time they want but what makes Taiwan retain any of its value would be to take it diplomatically rather than destroying half the country in a rampage in doing so.

They want those chip factories intact and then they can squeeze our balls tight. If they end up in Ukraine conflict they’re going to rip through resources and destroy the infrastructure they want.

“America’s solidarity with the 23 million people of Taiwan is more important today than ever, as the world faces a choice between autocracy and democracy,” she said upon her arrival.

Above statement from Pelosi hits the nail in the head imo.

Russia and China. Two autocratic world powers who don't mind torturing their own citizens. They are flexing their muscles thru Ukraine and Taiwan. It is clear that we are entering a new era of cold war. On one side, USA and its European and Pacific allies managed by democracy, on the other side Russia, China and their satellite supporters.

The problem is that at just about any moment Democracy can come under attack from within.

Would have been hard to believe a generation ago but would-be autocrats have been getting elected and then taking the system down while in office. This destroyed democracies in Russia and Eastern Europe but so far has failed to do so in North America. Your opinion on whether Turkiye is still a democracy is likely 100% more informed than mine so I'll leave that one for you.

Speaking only for myself and no one else whatsoever, the fixation with NP’s sweater puppies is fucking creepy.

    Just one man’s opinion.

I'm thrilled with Pelosi doing it. Stick it to the Chinese government. They can take their shitty ass army with their crappy copies of everyone else's technology and shove it.
