He was completely defeated. Watching him walk back after striking out last time he played, he look like he admitted defeat. Can't say that attitude helped him. If he just sucked and didn't act like a sad puppy he could have just ridden the bench and probably would have done better in terms of production, even if just slightly. It got too mental.
This is a surprise: https://www.mlb.com/news/harrison-bader-yankees-trade Montgomery for Badger. I've always doubted Montgomery, never thought his stuff was good enough but he produced. Good luck up him
I don't understand this. We now have more outfielders than we know what to do with, and we're one more injury from our rotation turning into a shitshow.
I think they are sick and tired of Hicks. I also don't really consider Carpenter an outfielder, and Stanton is part time. They do have a lot of players they can play outfield. If anything the Yankees have a log jam at DH which causes Stanton/Carpenter to play OF Another bad outfield signing (Hicks), to go with his money prevented more going to judge. Cashman hasn't signed a good outfielder since Nick Swisher It's a weird trade, but I never believed in Monty's stuff... But again he always produced in the regular season. I've never watched Hader
So much for a pitchers dual. Cole is getting close to becoming enemy #1 in the Yankee fan base. He's not been good this year for large chunks. 5 times this year he's allowed more than 5 runs in a game, out of 21 starts
One. Also not a fan of him being sixth, needs to be higher. Dropping judge down to three shouldn't destroy him.
Big agree here. No reason for him to be batting after the power hitters in the lineup. He should be before Judge, Rizzo, and Torres.
Watching/listening to the Yankees a phrase I rarely use describing a team comes to mind... Overrated. They are a very good team, they aren't the best in baseball or the AL. their offense isn't the best offense in baseball, their pitching is not the best in baseball (pretty sure they are still #1 in ERA). This is a very overrated team and really are not shoe ins to make it to the ALCS. Add insult to injury for me because I really don't like the lineup decisions either.
Yeah I think this sets the table for Bader being the primary center fielder next year and Hicks being moved or even bought out. How could you not be sick of him? He’s averaged 60 games, 7 homers a year while hitting .214 over the past four seasons. I know the pandemic drags the averages down a little bit. He’s also hitting .162 with RISP this year. Yup. I agree here. I know they’re scared of messing with Judge’s mojo but someone else needs to be in that 2 hole in front of him. That player will instantly see better pitches.
Hopefully this series in a rock bottom of sorts. Literally every player they have traded for has struggled (even if small sample). I will say it's positive they are scoring runs without hitting a home run. I don't have a stat, but I honestly feel like it's not an exaggeration to say during this 14-17 stretch they've scored almost 90 percent of their runs via the home run. Also, this is probably the worst home player umpire I've watched all year. He's been pretty awful
