I def agree with this. Without being there to see for myself and just going off of the tweets/videos posted, seems like the D has won the past 2 days while O won Day 1. I don’t feel as bad about this as I would have last year though. The D got a major boost in talent this offseason so if we can come out of TC with a solid 50/50ish split on who “won” the days, I’ll feel good about this team. What a cop out. Flacco is a 15 year veteran, superbowl winner, milking the end of his career. Would it kill him to help develop a 22 year old team mate whose trying to succeed?
I thought this was a good article by Michael Nania essentially about Mike White being overrated by many. I agree he'd have to show a lot to stick on the roster, either as the 3rd QB or backup. I have never made a claim that he’s a good mentor; I’m questioning using 5 year old information to label him a bad one. If I were to make a claim that he’s a good mentor, the only backing I’d have, is my belief that JD is doing everything he can to ensure Zach’s success which would include a vet QB is a mentoring role and my speculation as to why Zach would invite Flacco to his Idaho retreat.
Cop out? He's a player, not a coach. His job is defined by his contract. All this "mentor" nonsense has been overplayed for years; it's not in the job description. Every team has guys paid to coach and players have their own private coaches. To expand on a previous comment... Players play. Coaches coach. Reporters report.
With how Flacco has looked so far this offseason, I would be surprised if White sticks on the 53-man roster. Maybe JD can pull some more magic and get a Day 3 pick for him.

Why do we need a surrogate daddy to help along our baby bird QBs? Are there really that many elite QBs in the league that were tutored by older QBs? I can't think of too many.
I had seen that article. I think the main difference addressed in the article as well as my own *ugh* speculation is the purpose for the teams having Flacco on the roster. Here’s the timeline as I see it: The original non-mentoring comment came when the Ravens drafted Jackson. At the time Flacco was a starter and I can’t blame him for not being keen on training his potential replacement. When the Jets signed him up to mentor Sam, Flacco declared he was open to be a mentor but still had hopes to start: https://syndication.bleacherreport....arnold-still-wants-to-be-starting-qb.amp.html When he signed with the Eagles, in the article you posted, he (speculating) probably believed he was once again fighting for a starting spot, the article states “Flacco said he and Hurts exchanged texts and are excited to be working together, and he said the Eagles have not told him whether he’s competing for a starting job or not” It seems to me that Flacco (as with all pro athletes) wants to be a starter but if he can’t be a starter he’s willing to be a mentor if that’s what will keep him in the league.
