If we had a downvote on this board, I probably would receive a lot of down votes but still, I will go on record and say that I don't trust Ulbrich one bit when it comes to Defensive side of the ball. But on offense, IF Zach doesn't shit the bed, I believe LaFleur's offense will shine thru. For Saleh I am cautiously optimistic but when it comes to who I trust the most, I go with Mike. Who do you trust the most in terms of Jets' coaching staff?
As a gambling and drinking Muslim, if Allah isn't punishing me, I doubt Allah is punishing Saleh. Now vote you grumpy Jets fan.
Last year, we were devastated by injuries on both sides of the ball. On defense, those injuries made us worse and worse as the season went on. On offense, we got better and better despite playing with less. That sounds like good coaching on offense and not-so-good coaching on defense. LaFleur's and Ulbrich's interviews mirror that. Anytime LaFleur speaks, he talks Xs and Os such that it's clear he's a chess player that has a shot at outwitting opposing defenses even when working with less. You don't hear that from Ulbrich. Ulbrich celebrates length/speed/strength. Those are worth celebrating, but you would hope a defensive coordinator brings more to the table than that. I have no confidence that Ulbrich could outwit opposing offenses when Ulbrich is working with less. Maybe he's more technical when talking to players, but I'm not sure why he'd be a different person in front of the cameras. I'm a fan of Saleh. But LaFleur seems like the star of the show.
Question I am asking myself lately is this, if Jets D shits the bed again and offense puts over 25 points majority of the games and offense shows tons of creativity will Jets lose LaFleur to another team as a HC? On one hand he is too young, on the other hand his last name and connections have great rating. If that were to happen does Jets let him go or can Saleh and make him the HC?
I thought LaFleur did a good job last season. His offense worked extremely well when Wilson was out, and by the end of the year it was functioning efficiently with Wilson at the helm. I thought Saleh showed some good qualities as a leader of men but has big questions to answer about his abilities elsewhere. I thought Ulbrich showed absolutely nothing.
Good poll LaFleur by a lot. It's crazy to reflect on how I would have answered this question this time last year. Would have been Saleh then Ulbrich and LaFleur a distant 3rd. Ulbrich disappointed last year but with a retooled defense (JD still whiffed on IDL run defense so he might have that excuse) I expect big things. I also like a Saleh a lot, but we need to start seeing evidence that he's doing a good job.
Its tough to pick from the three top coaches of a four win team. Obviously none of them did an exemplary job. I'm inclined to go with LaFleur because the offense and playcalling looked pretty good when Mike White was in. Hopefully Zach improves and we see what this offense is really made out of.
I know all about Jets injuries and new personnel on and off the field but I cannot find a lot of trust for even the leader in the poll whose offense last year was #26 and scoring #28. Trust is not granted, but earned.
Zero faith in Ulbrich. ZERO adjustments, poor utilization of players, players all looked lost and undisciplined. Ran into a 49 fan that told me ....SALEH, will quickly fix that if it happens again, he won't tolerate it again. I'll believe it when I see it.
