Worst lightning storm I’ve ever seen wrapping up now. Local news said 126 strikes in 25 minutes. Leaving my customers house , had a strike hit right around me. Blue flash lasted about 2-3 seconds, hair stood up and ther was a loud buzzing noise. I would swear it hit the van, but nothing was wrong with it. Radio still works etc. Not a big fan of these summer storms, especially not one like this.
Wow! Be safe! Lighting scares the shit out of me. My house is surrounded by trees and I'm always worried one is going to be struck and end up on my roof.
Same here, I hate it. And now after this one, even more. This storm was unprecedented for even sc. so far , 2 houses about a mile from me with windows blown out, another couple on fire. I’d take a foot of snow over this bullshit 8.13 inches of rain with this one in around 2.5 hours. Damn. I guess I don’t need the Sprinkler tomorrow morning.
I guess I am easily entertained but thought this was interesting and weather thread seemed like the right spot
Ho Lee Fuk It's Florida, and its supposed to be hot, but this is ridiculous..... I was messing with my boat, and I burnt my F-ing meet on my sandals that I kicked off next to the boat when I climbed in. Came in to get some water.... checked weather. 96... but heat index is 122
https://www.tpr.org/environment/202...-in-san-antonio-2022-may-be-hottest-year-ever We'll break the record in exactly 10 days.
Yeah, even when I try to wait to do some outside stuff it's still been 90 at 8 at night. Finally yesterday afternoon into night we get a really good rain to cool it off but of course it was still raining at 9 so still can't get out.
That's the problem with living almost dead center in the state, it's either a 3-4 mph breeze or a damn hurricane. Did get out yesterday, late storm got it down to 73 but was back up to 80 by the time I was getting home.
The only place I'd live in Florida is down in the Keys somewhere. Need those sea breezes and the 15 minute shower every afternoon to keep things livable.
The 15 minute shower makes things worse (instant sauna) you need a 30-45 minute downpour to cool things off
Yes, experience that comes with living in Florida for any length of time. When I lived down in Davie I dreaded 4 pm because like clockwork that 15 minute downpour would come and I knew my last hour of work was going to suck. Especially if I was working on a piece of equipment in a field somewhere, downpour would come, instant sauna, plus when it was really heavy downpour the field would not drain quickly and the fire ants floating around would be looking for a dry spot, the closest dry spot being your ankles.
Not much better in New York today. Currently 90 feels like 96. I hate this weather with a passion. It’s not good for anything.
Agree. I get why the kids love (summer vacation) it and it is a popular time for vacations but the weather just sucks. Hot, humid, muggy, the potential for thunderstorms some of which can be severe. Give me the fall and spring anytime. I would even take winter over summer. Snow doesn't bother me at all.
