Its pretty much a waste that Cippolone's testimony is behind closed doors. It will be reported by the media and people will only believe what they want to believe. So its just a waste of time
If Cassidy Hutchinsons evidence about her conversations with him are backed up by him then her evidence is strengthened .( ignoring the ss story which she said was hearsay) . She didnt go under oath with threat of perjury and the predictable hardly knew attacks etc. Pat taking 5th makes him a mobster .
I don't believe that Cipollone is likely to have had any reason to take the 5th. If your legal advice is ignored that is not a crime in any jurisdiction that I am aware of. I guess the 5th would be appropriate if he was aware of the commission of a crime and chose to stand by and not prevent it. However how exactly does the White House Counsel inform in the situation we were in? Who do they inform?
@Jonathan_Vilma Your brought up a few days ago how it might be best to "burn down" the government and start over. Given recent polling on confidence in institutions from Congress to Big Business, it can't hurt to try.
This oughta work... https://www.cnn.com/2022/07/10/politics/steve-bannon-trump-january-6-executive-privilege/index.html
Well you sort of answered why without providing an answer. Our government is now just a big business. That’s why anyone tries to join it these days anyway.
Trump will try the Bibi playbook and run as a defense against having to face the trial processes the charges against him would otherwise produce. The difference is Bibi was in office when he used the tactic and I don't think Trump will ever get elected again.
Trump clearly believes that he can influence Bannon's testimony and odds are really good he is going to get blindsided. Bannon is not going to go in front of the Jan 6th Ctte and commit perjury. He's not going to know what the testimony of other individuals was in advance and he's not going to get immunity for testifying. The best thing that could happen for Trump is Bannon pleads the 5th a bunch of times - which would avoid giving more damning testimony about Trump's behavior leading up to and including the rally where he sent a mob at Congress.
If the mission was to stop him from running again, it has so far. We'll see what happens as more information comes out.
Maybe I'm reading the tea leaves wrong, but his attempts to oust elected Repubs who haven't been loyal enough to him is a sure sign he's running.
