I did not have much interest in a Top Gun sequel, but all I keep hearing is people talking positive about it. I'll check it out this weekend.
I saw Top Gun: Maverick yesterday. Thanks for all the recommendations, as it was a lot of fun. Really good sequel. Tom Cruise did a great job. My showing was SOLD OUT too. 2 weeks after it came out. That surprised me. It's still doing great at the box office. I feel like it was a good ending, with no third film needed, but when you make this much money I could see the studio push for a third one.
I never really liked the original so I wasn’t going to see this one but everyone keeps saying it was good
I actually re-watched the original before seeing Maverick and it honestly does not hold up very well as a film. It really is not a film. They hang out, sing songs, fly planes. The end. It's great 80's nostalgia though. Top Gun: Maverick has all of that too, but it feels more like a cohesive film.
I could definitely see someone feeling that way. There were some cringe moments for me. Especially the sex scene. Plus all the singing. Lots of sweating. Many scenes of guys just staring at each other and smiling.
Haha wow this is really broken down by Tarantino and makes so much sense ahah "You can ride my tail anytime!" "You can ride mine"
No, but it's become a whole meme because of how comedically bad or mediocre it is. I did watch the new Thor and found it to be ok, the last half hour was good but I was pretty bored
anytime Jared Leto is lead the movie is DOA. He hasn't made a good movie in a long time. I personally don't find him to be a very good actor. I've been Marvel'd out since the last Avengers, I couldn't even finish it. The new Thor movie does interest me though because Christian Bale is in it.
Bale is great in it, but not enough of him in there. Apparently the director has a 4 hour cut of the movie
I liked him as lead in Prefontaine and Requiem, but for the most part his presence is too weak to carry a production.
He was great getting his ass kicked by Ed Norton in Fight Club. Speaking of Fight Club, that is in my top 10 movies of all time. Both Norton and Pitt were absolutely phenomenal. I read the book after seeing it for the first time and that was even better.
Saw "Thor" yesterday.. Lighthearted with a sprinkle of tragedy. Abundant CGI with a cameo from GotG. Plot was ok. Characters pretty much ran true to form. I think Marvel might want to dial back the comedy as its becoming boring in a kinda funny way. It was just another OK movie and honestly, it did feel like a bit of a money grab to me. The next Thor otoh, should be less funny and more action oriented. They might want to develop another character as they're down to 2 main characters now. All in all, decent time killer on a lazy weekend afternoon.
