That shark was caught offshore. The creek attacks happened near the house I grew up in, if you realized how far inland those attacks happened you probably wouldn't believe White Shark either. I have canoed up and down that stretch and it's perfectly fresh water, not salt at all at that point. That wasn't the only shark caught btw.
Just read an article on those shark attacks. I know it was normal in those days but reading this part made me laugh. "On July 12th a factory across town was generously letting 11-year-old Lester Stillwell leave work a little early. After meeting some friends, they went for a swim in the Matawan Creek."
Yeah... I only vaguely knew about those attacks. Seems the first two attacks happened in the ocean. I looked at the Matawan Creek on Google Earth... not sure how far inland the attack(s) occurred.... but yeah Great Whites don't like brackish water.
