Vilma- He hasn't had a big play all year really and I can see him finally doing something in this one. Maybe a sack, forced fumble, Int. I don't know we know Kerry will be causing chaos out there for the Pats but I have a hunch Vilma may make some noise too. He is too good to be quiet this long. Nugent - No more Vinateri for the Pats and for once I would like to think we have a kicker we can count on if the game is on the line. So many playoff games are decided by kickers and I wouldn't be suprised if this is one of them. Justin Miller - he doesn't necessarily have to break one but he has gotten us good field position all year. We need him to help out our offense and give us a short field. Hopefully he won't be returning too many kicks tomorrow but when the Pats do score he needs to help us answer back.
(posted this on a pats ste and copied and pasted so it might be a little dumbed down) 1.) Chad Pennington- It's really very simple when it comes to the Jets chances of winning any football game: Chad MUST have a good game. As another poster mentioned we don't ever win when he has a bad game and we almost always win when he has a good one. He must be accurate in his short throws and allow his WR's to make plays after the catch. He also must avoid the pressure on 3rd down and maybe scramble for a few first downs. I have noticed lately that Chad has been stepping up in the pocket and hasn't been afraid to run 5-6 yards to pick up the first down. 2.) Cedric Houston- I was going to go with Leon Washington but I believe that Houston is actually more important next week. He is going to be the lead runner and will have to establish an inside running game to set up Chad's playaction. Chad is one of the best playaction passers in the league and if we have a running game going we could pull this one out. Houston wil need to get about 75 yards on the ground on 15-20 carries and I feel we will have a great chance to win. 4.) Justin Miller- Miller is big in two ways this Sunday. As many of you probably know Miller is our only pro bowl player and is the best kick returner in the league. However, Miller's bigger job may be on defense. With the absence of Andre Dyson Miller will have to step up and cornerback and make a few plays.
In my opinion, the top three guys that need to play well are Chad, Miller, and Nugent 1) Chad - Pretty self-explanatory 2) Nugent - Will probably need to make some big kicks, and they can't have those short dinkers to the 15 yard line 3) Miller - Obviously he is important filling in for Dyson, but if he can set the O up with good field position throughout the game, they have a very good chance at pulling of the win (Is an opening kick-off for a TD too much to ask for? )
I think that if we win it will be from more of a group effort with all the players not making mistakes
Our offensive line needs to be prepared from the gate tommorow. We need to give Chad time to spread the ball. We're going to be ready.
how many referees are there? 7? 8? i'm hoping these guys play a big part in helping the jets over the line
Our road to victory rests with Robertson, 99, and 92. Brady must be hit and hit hard or it will make no difference what Chad and company do.
I'd have to say Chad, Ellis/Thomas, and Miller both in the return game as well as stepping up defensively.
ALL.... Can't win anymore without strong consistent team play. But, win this one and we're at least .500 for postseason play.
so what i gather from reading this thread is that its going to take a COMPLETE team effort to win this game after all...thats how these jets are....its a total team effort
