Agree…that 2015 squad had 2 1000 yard receivers….none of our ours guys have ever had a 1000 yard season so let’s not get ahead of ourselves here However I will say that I do think this group has the potential to be just as good though….if we can stay healthy, I think our top three guys in Davis, Moore and Wilson all have 1000 yard potential….and their skill sets complement each other well. And I really like Braxton as the #4. so yah good group On a related note, at some point the magical 1000 yard milestone has to be adjusted right? Jim Brown was getting 1000 yards in only 12 games. In the 1970s backs we’re doing it in 14 games. We have 17 games now. Getting 1000 yards in 12 games averages to 83 yards per game. Apply that to a 17 game season and the milestone becomes 1400 yards… that should be the measuring stick….of course it’s a different game now but still…

while true about the amount of games, most teams rotate players a lot to keep them fresher so it would really be based on snaps more then anything. back then RBs for example were every down bell cows nowadays most backs split carries and take like 50-70% of snaps. in a 17 game schedule if you take 70% of snaps it's like only playing 12 games every snap. jim brown even in those 14 game seasons was getting 300 carries a season. in 2021 in the NFL only 7 RBs got 1000 yards and 5 of them did it on less carries then brown was getting, 1 was about the same amount of carries and 1 had like 30ish more but also had 1800 yards
Good breakdown, but no surprises. What's really troubling is that a lot of these problems stem from what I consider a poor attitude/work ethic, and that usually doesn't change, and often gets worse as it leads to the player getting less playing time and so they sulk more, and the spiral goes on. The only hope I have is that he reportedly dedicated himself this off season to getting in top shape, so maybe he'll be an exception. I hope so, he could be a big help.
i cant know that its his attitude or ethic. didnt seem to show up in year one. so? anyway... whatever it is that causes multiple penalties and such... THAT shit will get you cut if you cannot correct it. all the evidence prior i saw a guy who has a lot of natural skill. maybe the new system challeneged him bewteen the ears and he had problems picking it up.. one can get into a negative feedback loop by pressing and TRYING and end up screwing up more. (all speculation) we all hope he can get his shit together and contribute.
Of course none of us can know for sure what his work ethic and attitude were/are, but from what I saw he often looked lost and didn't look to be putting out 100% effort when he did get on the field. Since he wasn't reported to have any major injuries, I can only assume that his lack of effort was a choice - i.e. work ethic. Yes, maybe he struggled picking up the new system and then pressed and got worse and finally gave up, but that doesn't speak well of his mental make up either. In any case, I hope he's done a "reset" and comes back this year looking to achieve his potential.
he lost alotta weight due to illness prior to the PS. no work ethic issues in yr one reported or observed afaik. and maybe his natural ability let him get by for years on end.. and the new CS was more demanding? we all want to see him him maximize his potential. cos i think in NCAA and year one it was demonstrated that he HAD that potential. let us pray
It's kind of like the Highlights magazine at the dentist, on the back where you are supposed to find the hidden objects. In this case, every hidden object is a Zach Thomas jersey.
Mims is a tall long stride type wide receiver. He doesn’t fit this offense. He’s a waste of talent sitting on this roster. JD needs to trade him asap so he can have success elsewhere. Also his strength come into play in the redzone. Until Zach is consistently able to move the ball, it’s not worth what-if dialogue about Mims. Mims was never asked to do any of these routes at Baylor. Stop blaming the kid. Honestly not fair based on his receiver profile.
