Nick Plummer gets his first major league hit, leading off the bottom of the ninth with the tying dinger!
Escobar makes the key defensive play in the top of the 10th and then wins it in the bottom of the 10th!
Bought tickets for my wife and her father to go last night. What a game they enjoyed man. Super lucky. Texted her when Rodriguez came in and said this guy blows. Literally next inning 2 walks. Take 2/3 from Washington and let's get started on this West Coast gauntlet.
I’m waiting on us to get through June before I get too hyped! Applause though to Lindor and the offense right now! ‘Oh and congrats to Nick Plummer. Must be a great feeling to be brought up and contribute like this.
Lindor is now 3rd in RBIs in the NL. Pete is still 1st. I'm way happier with the 9.5 lead over ATL than the 11.5 over Philly
It's a chicken-and-egg thing - is he bad because he doesn't play regularly, or is he not playing regularly because he's bad. The best thing for him would be to hit at a .900 OPS level in Syracuse, and thereby allow the Mets to get something good enough to make it worth their while to trade him.
The perception of Dom Smith is inflated due to a career season in 2020 in a covid-shortened season. He's a career .247 hitter that averages 10 HRs a year. His Baseball Savant page is horrendous to. He is hitting .186 this year in 101 plate appearances. His on base percentage is .287. His expected batting average is .213 and his weighted on base average is .254 this season. It's time to come to terms with the fact that Dom Smith just sucks and should be traded for anything; he just isn't an MLB hitter.
Weirdly enough, he hits lefties better than righties too. I know the Mets have cleared out the entire staff since they held Pete Alonso down, but I wonder if a part of their stubbornness is keeping him is because of that. And the fact that they kept Nimmo when everyone in the world thought they should trade him for McCutcheon and Nimmo has panned out sans injury.
Wish we took that Dom Smith for Hosmer + Paddock trade.. Dom blows. Thought he was going to be a piece used to get a reliver at the deadline but probably not anymore.
