To play devil's advocate, that's 2-3 pretty good starters out of 9 picks. That's really not bad. That's about the same as the hit rate for 3rd round picks.
Kerley played 8 years, Aboushi is in his 9th season, Shell about to enter his 7th. Those are well above the league average, not sure why people are shitting on 5th round picks like its nothing
Whining that the Bills may have gotten a better RB when Hall was the consensus top RB in the draft is just looking for ways to be miserable.
Fuck me, throw enough darts one will stick lol However, I did like the look of Allgeier and Ford if we were picking an RB all the way down there.
Another reason it was not a mistake is that now the Jets are deep at the running back position. For years, we've complained the Jets have no depth at any position. Now they do. Watch out NFL!
Uh huh well we will see how it plays out, Cook looks pretty good to me. But “the consensus” is always right about these things (sarcasm)
Arguably Shell. Point is the same whether it's 2 or 3 guys though. 5th round picks across the board usually have a 10-15% chance of becoming long term starters. We hit on 2/9 from that sample, above average.
Kerley was a classic Tannenbaum pick. He looked for guys that grew up poor. His opinion, right or wrong, was/is that they wanted it more when they hit NFL. And Kerley was a dirt poor country boy haha
On the 35 we could have taken Breece Hall naturally without spending anything else in the process. On the 38 we clearly had a choice of several Edges with potential given where everybody went. And there is a small but realistic chance that JJ could have fallen through to the 35 given he was dropping like a stone when the Jets traded up. The point is that a savvy NFL FO does not move up the way the Jets have the last couple of years unless they think they are getting one of the last pieces of the puzzle. When a team as talent-deprived as the Jets makes a move like the ones they have made it is like watching a small child mimicking their elders not understanding why the grownups made the moves they did.
the short answer is yes. MLF likes to rotate backs and outside of MC we don't have much. we need a RB to split carries with him who can do damage. he was also a MLF favorite in the draft so this pick was for him
I dont know what to say. You have been a member for 18 years, so you can't be that young. Its a shame cause that could be your excuse for such sloppy thinking. I hope you are already somewhat successful in life cause otherwise you are in for a struggle. Or could be you are getting very old and are starting to experience thinking issues. I can say that cause i am old. In any case you just seem to make stuff up to support your viewpoints
I just think his age and all the years of jets sucking has caught him to be overly negative of everything. it's basically jets shell shock
Man are you trying to convince me or yourself here? I'm sure that 5th rounder is going to be what makes or breaks the Jets for the next decade. Sure that pick only has a small chance to even be a starter let alone a star, but Joe Douglas is sitting at the kids table for trading it away in exchange for one of the most explosive weapons in the country.
