If Wilson stinks up the joint again this season with a stronger supporting cast, then we might be drafting QB again. Next year’s QB class is very strong
Your comment would be more relevant if you didn't cherry pick the things you want to respond to. The majority of people who have expressed an opposing view to yours about Zach have mentioned a number of factors beyond poor OL play. More impactful were the lack of quality weapons he had to work with due to injury and/or inexperience of those "weapons". And the comparison to Darnold is irrelevant. Darnold's first year - which was his best - he had a more or less stable set of receivers - 8 - while last year the Jets used 22 different ones. And of those 8, 3 of them - Robby Anderson (752), Enunwa (449), Herndon (502) had more receiving yards than any receiver Zach had. But again, the circumstances that both played in were so different to make it all but impossible to truly compare. But, continue your agenda against Wilson. Maybe he will fail and you tell us all "I told you so!" and you'll win.
Flacco has never won a game for us. He played pretty decent against Miami last year but the defense didn't.
This is a great idea!! Let’s get individual clips of every snap last season and let’s, as a board, go through each snap and assign blame or credit for that play after several days of intense debate and voting. Can you find the opening kickoff from day 1 game 1 and we can go from there. After we’re done, we can do the same thing with Sam. #SummerFun!!!
Yeah and that would probably be the smart thing to do. If a QB's first two years are both bad there is very little chance of him ever becoming the guy.
Oh God...here we go again with the "Zach's a super tiny, little baby argument". Makes no sense, dude is 6'2" and looks to be up to about 220 now based off of photos of him from the voluntary stuff. 6'2" 220 lbs. is not small by any measurement. Can we move on from this way of thinking now?
Nah, it was a one off clip to prove a point but if you can find the opening kick off knock yourself out
Nah, I’m no fun. wasn’t really following the convo, what’s 1 clip supposed to prove? If only ZW had a bigger body of work to asses his talents…. I’m going to think long and hard on how we can asses a bigger body- let’s circle back in 12-24 months and by then I’ll have come up with an idea on how to get a bigger sample of ZWs work.
Baker had a good yr 2 and a great yr 3 but regressed in year 4. We should 100% draft a QB next year so we don’t get caught in a similar situation
If you put inaccurate information in the very 1st paragraph, why would anyone read the rest of the essay?
I think most of us can tell the difference between a good QB throwing to bad receivers and a bad QB throwing to anyone. I've heard these same excuses for Geno Smith, Darnold and the rest for years. Near the end of the season, with many games under his belt, Wilson managed to beat the 3-14 Jags. His stat line was: 14/22 for 102 yds(!), 1 TD, longest pass 22 yds 1sac. God help us. Ron
Read the thread and you'll get your answer. You are really going down the wrong track with the bolded btw, to save you time the answer is in the post I quoted with the video clip. oh fuck it 'Zach's issues are not accuracy issues' reply 'whose fault is this one' with a clip of shite throw.# Answer - another excuse as to why that throw wasn't Wilson's fault.
Gotcha. IMO Zach’s bad throw and every other bad throw is the fault of inexperience and time. Zach’s great throws can be attributed to potential. Every game and every season, inexperience and time slowly move from being an hinderance to an asset. Unfortunately we can’t speed up time but the CS tried to speed up experience by throwing him in the deep end day 1.
Again I wasn't hating on him but playing devil's advocate to the guy's who think he didn't have accuracy problems, I want the lad to take the step, if he takes the step then we are good to go, if he doesn't we are fucked for another 2 seasons and by then the clammer from the JD hating bunch will be very loud indeed. Fine lines, Wilson at #2 may define JD's time as a GM, it would be a shame to see him fail on that one pick.
I appreciate your concern but even if ZW is a bust, JD has a strong enough body of work to get more time, IMO. Did you know that an NFL football is different than a college one? If not, take that into consideration when thinking about the many reasons football is different in the NFL and how certain positions need time to adjust.
The 2020 draft is another ding against him, but we'll find out how much the previous CS was behind those selections based on how the last 2 classes play.
Oh yeah, I firmly believe Gase had his mucky fingerprints all over that draft. It stands out a mile from the next two drafts without him at the helm.
