I wasn't thrilled taking Sauce at 4(wanted KT bad), however, I'll be rooting my ass off for him and the rest of the class of '22.
Jameson Williams makes cb’s look slow... not here though. Sauce looked like he had more raw speed to be honest. His press coverage was clean too. Could be the matchup itself was good for him... Still he’s gonna be a superstar (in the Sherman vein) imo. Will be very interesting to see him and Wilson battle it out in camp. Wilson is said to be a great route runner. I think the Jets did a great job improving their defense (Sauce, Johnson) and offense (Wilson) in round 1... The next pick(s) should be all about helping Zach Wilson... Breece Hall makes a lot of sense at pick 38 imo...
The fact that G. Wilson and Moore have to go against Sauce every day in practice is going to accelerate their development a lot, not to mention Z. Wilson having to figure about how to throw a receiver open against a blanket corner like Sauce. I'm super excited about the Sauce pick. We didn't need a DB, but for many reasons, he's going to help everyone around him rise up more than anyone else we could have drafted.
S and LB are still needs also. I like Hall but plenty of RBs still left. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Jets trade down at some point to acquire another pick or two.
Went with an A instead of the A+ only because I just like Wilson and don’t love him. Hard to complain about last night though, that was amazing!
I think a lot of us feel that way……wasn’t happy about the position taken at 4 but can’t argue he’s not the top CB because he is. Just 2 years ago CB and WR were the weakest spots on the team in terms of depth. Now look ….
Totally get the Wilson take. To me, Sauce and G. Wilson were complete opposite reactions: Sauce was like the girl you really want to ask out but know you probably shouldn't, and Wilson was like the girl you don't have feelings for even though on paper she's a 10. Explaining how it makes me feel to get both would probably make this thread NSFW.
Gave it a B, would have taken kt over sauce which would have made the trade up unnecessary, not that I’m against trade ups I just didn’t want to go another whole year seeing @Br4d drone on and on and on about it.
If you manage to land 3 players widely perceived as top 10 picks and amongst the best players at their position in the draft, at the very least, without giving up everything to do so I don't think you can give it less than an A. If the picks are as advertised it's potentially franchise altering. The roster looks a lot better today. Now its down to coaching and Zach.
Yeah, I could see the Jets going safety as there are a few good ones left... Or the pick I would really like is Leo Chanel... You want a badass defense like Ravens, Steelers, SF... He’d help get there.
I've been lower on Wilson than most throughout the whole process. Again, I like him and I think he'll be a good WR so it's really hard to nitpick on it too much. Plus, now that he's a Jet, I'm all in lol
Normally I'd hate the idea of trading back into the first or trading up in general. But the Jets need top end talent now not place holders. They had him ranked at 8 it seems and the CS have seen him close up. Its about as low risk a trade up as there can be. I've less issue with the move up for JJ than the one for AVT. Isn't this exactly how trade ups should go, for the talent who is falling rather than a reach?
