It seems like we were quite alone in our assessment of JJ but like I said a few times, at 26 when you have this many picks to play with, you have to take a shot.

 

Man if Saleh can’t turn this kid into a stud he’s gonna earn himself a hell of a reputation. He already has one but this would be eye opening.

 

Jets had him at 8th overall on their board it seems.



So JD is either an evil genius in player evaluation, or he's missed the mark on JJ about as bad as one can miss the target.

I've always believed he's the former, so I've got my fingers crossed that he's right.

Unfortunately when it comes to assessing PAs rushers in the draft all we have to look at is Jabari Zuniga…

 

Which is almost always the case if the details are not given to begin with.

 

Historic draft I think, may be as good as the Mangold/DBrick draft potential wise

I know you thought he was a top 5 player, I thought he was more of a second round talent. I started watching more film and looking at different things with JJ because of your belief In him.

So, what do you think of the value? Considering the draft we had already established before trading back up?

I'm also curious about your thoughts when we didn't take him, your thoughts when he was slipping down the draft, and If you had thought It was at all possible for us to still get him?

I think It's phenomenal.

I still don't think I like JJ as much as you do but I came around to the idea of him at possibly going #4. I think with Salah coaching this kid up and us getting 3 top 8 players on their board.

I a very pleased….I am still surprised we took a corner first instead of pass rusher or one of the tackles. I thought we needed an OT more than a CB, but I absolutely wanted a WR and pass rusher so stoked on how it all came together.

if Sauce is all that it’ll be great…we play some tough offenses so we need defensive help for sure, but as I was watching the Sauce highlights on ESPN boy he is very hands on the receivers…a lot of those highlights could easily be PI calls in the NFL. But regardless…while I may have preferred an OT at 4 then Wilson and Johnson, I can’t say CB won’t help so all in all a great first round.

I do like what the Giants did by the way…a top DE and OT…

anyway…looking at round 2 seems like we’ll have some good options

 

You guys know I would have taken Jermaine Johnson #4 overall. I am so happy! Amazing first round of the draft.

 

i know you didn’t ask me but Saleh and staff seeing him down in the SR bowl led to this pick. This was a trust in the staff moreso then the scouting. I think the scouting led to him being a first rounder but the Jets and the picks they had, some felt he was destined to go here at 4/10. The smoke was there, they def saw something that made them want JJ badly. It was good to get guys on your top 10 with value down at 26.

I can't stress how much I love the johnson pick at 26. by and far the best value pick in the 1st round from any team
