If KT and Hutch are off the board, I think Ekwonu would be my pick. So yeah, he's not my first option either but I think he'd be a fantastic pick at 4.
You could trade one if you're that against having depth. I wouldn't want to bank on a 29 year old journeyman in the final year of his deal & a young OT that has had weight management problems & is not a great scheme fit as the long-term bookends of a line that is supposed to protect your very young franchise QB.
nope not bad at all. Originally I was against it but after I gave it more thought It makes sense if an edge isn't worth taking there
"Against having depth" is kind of a shitty way to put it. Im not against having depth, Im against prioritizing depth over finding starters... shit even just competent warm bodies... at multiple other positions.
Is that real? The guy is supposed to be a journalist ranting like he's a geriatric and its his 1st day on the internet. whoa I disagree anyway, Ekwonu can play multiple positions, thats the best thing about him, and considering Mekhi Becton is MIA, we need a right tackle badly
where would Echols & Hall be competing for? We signed DJ Reed who most likely is starting for us and MC2 is probably starting in the slot
I HIGHLY doubt that. Sewell was considered borderline generational, and Slater and Wirfs have been instant studs. Neal was also considered a better prospect than Ickey throughout most of last season.
I don't think a guy can be considered the best OT prospect of the last 2-3 years when he wasn't even considered the best OT prospect in this draft for most of last season. Neal was the guy, the Ickey thing didn't start picking up steam until way later in the season.
A whole lot of smoke around our pic at four being Jermaine Johnson over KT on Twitter right now. Not sure how I feel about that. He definitely checks off all of the Joe Douglas boxes though. I just don’t like someone starting their career at age 23. That basically gives you a rookie deal plus one more contract before they start to dip out of their prime.
I've been seeing a lot of the same, Thibs will hopefully be the pick but if it's truly JJ I would rather trade down in that scenario.
Could definitely see that JJ is Greg Cosell's top edge: https://www.si.com/nfl/lions/news/why-jermaine-johnson-will-become-top-nfl-pass-rusher
really have to hope this is a smokescreen to get someone to jump. Although I guess if it came down to having to choose between Icky, sauce and Johnson I would probably take the pass rusher and hope for the best. Just not a huge fan at all.
I don’t love that the only guy calling him the best pass rusher in the draft doesn’t even work in football. Edit: as in he has no experience as a scout or player.
Quite honestly - I don't care who we draft. I just live in hope that in 3 years time, we can look back on this and say we got 3-4 studs from this draft and helped set the foundation for success. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
It’s easy to look back in hindsight and say Slater and Wirfs were better prospects because they’ve played well in their careers so far. I’m talking about coming into the draft. I think Ikem has a strong case for OT1, worst case he’s OT2 behind Sewell IMO. This is just my opinion though, so take it with a grain of salt.
