He had 1400 receiving yards and averaged 18 yards a catch last season with not great QB play

I wouldn’t sell the farm for any receiver but he’s a star and I would easily make a fair trade and pay him without thinking twice

There is 100% doubt about Cooper being a “missed opportunity” many people here don’t think he’s worth the roster space or his salary.

This season might shed a light on if it was a good move or a bad move but to proclaim it a missed opportunity is painfully pretentious.

A 4 time Pro Bowler at 27 years old, coming off a season with about a double yards of what any of our receivers did last year may not be worth a roster spot? Now that's painfully pretentious. I will stick to what I said about him, he was a missed opportunity, and we would still have all out premium assets if we got him. Whether some of you guys know something about him that I don't and he is not a good player and will suck this year, sure let's revisit this during the season.

It’d be cool if we got him and I’d be fine if we don’t and kept the youth movement at the position through the draft.

But I’m lost as to why people are diminishing his ability? Wide receivers are playmakers in all different capacities. He doesn’t jump over them to catch balls like Calvin Johnson. He instead runs through them after a 8 yard slant catch. He carried the hottest team in football to the playoffs.

I love him but I love him because he's used as a gadget player. If he's got an issue with that it doesnt make any sense

Im sure he’d be fine with a few plays a game, I just think he has an issue with getting double digit carries per game multiple times a year

Regardless, without the gadget plays he’s still an elite YAC guy and great all around receiver

    Fair enough.

Koopa, I dont think our former Gamecock is gonna be here. Douglas will end up drafting a WR instead :(

    But, but, but... stats! ;)

That video reminds me of how I felt all last season. Judging a QB based on stats is lunacy. The QB stats reflect the performance of the offense as a whole, not just the performance of the QB. The fact is that, when you are drafted #1 or #2 overall, it means you're going to a team that has no supporting cast, or else they wouldn't be picking at #1 or #2. Those circumstances will make any rookie QB look bad. Zach made his share of rookie mistakes, but with a decent supporting cast, he's going to be exciting to watch.

Man this is brutal. Zach dug his own grave plenty last year but Jesus did he have help a lot of the time.

Not that I am disagreeing with these stats but the sample size makes the conclusion irrelevant from a statistical standpoint.

Thanks for posting this. Bad plays happen to everyone but man it seems our WRs didn’t help him enough.

Man that quick release is sexy though

Im fine with that route also, but if Deebo is available they need to do what they can to get him

    Thanks for posting this!

But now I find myself watching Zach's 2021 highlight tape while at work...wtf is wrong with me??? lol

Side note after watching said highlight tape....going from Kroft/Griffin to Uzomah/Conklin next season is going to be incredible lol can't wait to see those guys on the field with Zach!

About half the "drops" on that highlight tape are poor throws, and there really weren't that many bad drops for 383 attempts. But because so much of Zach's struggle was our lack of talent on offense, can someone make a similar tape for the White, Flacco, Johnson games?

Wilson had a 55 completion percentage.
    Mike White had 66%.
    Joe Flacco had 64%
    Josh Johnson had a 64%.

In the 5 games WIlson didn't play our team averaged 10% more catches per target. That should be a troubling stat for fans. Its lame to keep blaming the WRs when they only struggled with Zach. At least the "being a rookie" excuse has some merit.

The article looked at 10 years of data I want to say, not just the ones on that chart. The larger sample size reflected that chart though.

Without rewatching those games in detail, it did seem to me that the other QBs on the roster took their chances on easier throws. That is not a criticism, it is a compliment - they took what was on offer, made safe throws, moved the chains, and the offense came alive. A lot of those throws Wilson was missing were ambitious and almost came off, but a lot of them were far enough off-target to make a drop more likely. Later in the year, when Zach started to take more of those easy throws, I think he improved.

That's just off the top of my head, though.

Yeah, Wilson is TOTALLY inaccurate! LMFAO!

It's so lazy, or intellectually dishonest, or simply flat out biased, to say that Wilson has an accuracy problem. Did he struggle earlier in the season when he tried to carry the whole team on his back like he did at BYU? Yes. But when he returned from injury he was much more self-contained, but his receivers let him down massively. This is why I'm not worried at all that he's going to take the next step this season. I doubt that will silence his critics, but at least they'll have to come up with some new material to "justify" their hate.
