We weren’t desperate for a QB. Maybe we were but the CS wanted to see how their 2nd rd steal from the year before developed.

may u r right about the reason, but how on earth could anybody have been stupid enuf to pass on mahomes AND Watson because they wanted to see if hackenberg would develop !!!!

It was so obvious about hack being one of the worst draft picks ever, there was nothing to wait on. He may have been the second worst all time QB pick after leaf.

that is why we suck, because the inmates are running the asylum.

Ya I remember that draft so well on how it was a weak QB class and bla bla bla… sounds similar to this year o_O

Not exactly. Not all of those 10 were really looking for a QB. The ones who truly "whiffed" were Chicago, the Jets, and I would've said the Bills except they caught lightening in a bottle by getting Allen and having him turn into an All Pro - although I bet a lot of Bills fans would take Mahomes over Allen right now.

The point is that Macc made a massive, franchise-altering blunder by passing on Mahomes and Watson when he needed a QB, and he compounded it by taking two Safeties with those first two picks. If the Johnsons themselves weren't so football-ignorant they would've fired him before he could turn in pick #3 in that draft. Instead they actually rewarded him (and Bowles) with an extension!

And it doesn't matter if Mahomes (or Watson) would not have been as good as he turned out in KC - I'd take a 75% version of either over what we've had up until Wilson.

The last 15 or so years with an over hyped Rex and Tanny emptying the cupboard, Idzik, and Maccagnan, have been almost too much to bear. I am finally seeing some "light at the end of the tunnel" with Douglas and Saleh, but we're still in the tunnel and cave ins happen.

Mac and Idzik set this franchise way behind.. basically a decade behind with terrible drafting. Rex I can excuse because he had success with a veteran squad and thought he could keep the ball rolling. Didn’t work out in the end but man he was refreshing in 09’ and 10’

I understand, especially for success starved fans like us, but really his success was the worst kind - it gave hope where there really wasn't cause for any down the road.

I would bet plenty Mac said no to QB with a high pick like he said no to OL every single year. Damned the scouts. Appealing to even think about our past.

Between Kiper having Wilson consistently locked in to the Falcons at 8, and now this, it may be time to assume Wilson is untouchable unless we reach at #4.

The 10 pick is going to have a lot of talent available at WR.

The question is whether or not a couple of WR's go before then, which will likely make the best value elsewhere.

100 spot on. JD and CS probably have 1 may be 2 max that fit that value at ten.

I think if the Jets like a WR like Garrett Wilson, then take him at 4.

Other than Hutchinson, the Edge Rushers in this draft are not sure things. No one is even settled on who is the #2 guy.

    Wilson at #4...

and then you see who slips to 10... top 3 or 4 edge, Ekwono, Sauce, Neal, Trevor Penning, etc..

Might be a better way to go if u rank any WR over the others...

I'm thinking wilson goes 8th to the falcons personally. I don't think we need a WR at 10 either.
It seems KT will fall to 4 and we should take him, and hamilton will fall to 10 and is a steal at 10.

guys who could be there at 35 include
moore, dotson, pickens, watson, ross and tolbert. not a bad list

we could also package 35 and 69 to get to the 20-24 range for a guy like olave

I wouldn’t be surprised if we went KT at 4 and Penning at 10. I think the Becton situation is real… him not showing up is worrying me. I also think Penning is high up on JDs board

Burks is growing on me at this pick.

I get the same feeling watching him play that I got watching Travis Kelce at Cincinnati. He catches the ball and goes to full speed in a couple of steps.

I know I'm in the minority here but I'm actually perfectly fine with this. I've never been as high on Wilson as most so this would actually be a perfect scenario IMO.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This WR class is so debatable that I could easily see the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th WR taken each being the #1 WR on that team's board.

WR is one of those positions where the high picks can struggle and the 3rd rounders can star. It all depends on how ready the guy is to be on an island against a seasoned pro CB who is likely better than any defender he has faced one on one in his career.

Very true. Also depends on which team they land on.

Let's say Burks or Olave slips to GB/KC/etc. (someone with an already established All-Pro QB), I could easily see them becoming the best WR from this class despite being the 4th or 5th one taken.
