We need to get way better on both sides of the ball. But yeah... our defense sucks... which should be concerning because the head coach is s'posed to be a defensive guru. You have to stop the bleeding before you can start to heal. Teams were running wild on us... that shit has to stop. p.s. Ashtyn Davis sucks at his job.
I keep hearing that defensive guru claim. Who claimed he was a defensive guru? I was never under that impression.
I'd prefer we go Edge with #4 and maybe trade back a little and go best LB with the next pick. I do not want any DBs taken in rd. 1.
Just google "Robert Saleh guru"... I'm not saying it's true... I'm saying that was the media narrative and his selling point as a 1st time head coach. That's why I said "s'posed" ...
I heard his players would run through a wall for him. I assumed it went to him being well liked and respected; maybe it was an example of his play design
What did you hear? At least Rex Ryan agrees with me... “This guy is supposed to be a defensive guru... I take it personal. Everything I heard was this guy is a lot like myself, but without the bad part." -Rex Ryan
Yeah, the "bad part" is an ego bigger than his stomach used to be. All about Rex. His "motivational" shtick worked at first, but eventually everyone - including his own players - saw through the wind.
His players played hard for Rex right till the end, even tho they were going nowhere. I haven’t seen that since. Last few years they just mailing it in by September.
Rex ALSO changed his mind COMPLETELY about Saleh , after he had a talk with him...take a look at those quotes. I think he said..sign me up...
Oct? Wasn’t that when the Pats put 50+ on us with a rookie QB? There’s probably no better example of a team with no heart than that game. And there were plenty more.
I’m not sure what you are confused about. Did you think the team played hard, competitive football for the coaches last season or something?
The talent level was atrocious I’ll give you that. JD deserves the lions share of blame for that roster. But the talent level towards the end of Rex tenure, when Idzik started destroying the roster, was also terrible. But they played way harder than what we saw last season. Letting up 50+, and then following that with multiple 45+ pt beat downs. I like Saleh, but it was unacceptable effort all around including the coaches.
