Meh, so many Beatles albums are overrated. When I think of greatest albums I think of albums that all or the vast majority of the songs are great. Sgt Pepper more than half the songs are crap in my opinion. But to each his own.
Fleetwood Mac - Rumors. Was all over my dorm in 1977. Honorable mention to Traffic - John Barleycorn Must Die.
If you think about how ground breaking that album was in terms of song writing, instrumentation and the actual production, you have to include it as one of the greatest albums of all time. The only song that I used to think was only ok is Within You Without You. But even that introduced Indian music into rock music. I'm going to go out on a limb and say you're not much of a Beatles fan, which is fine.
[QUOTE="stinkyB, post: 4196332, membe [/QUOTE] Love Rock for Light but personally I like I Against I more.
All of these I would consider truly Great complete Albums The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds Meatloaf - Bat out of Hell Yes - Close to the Edge Rush - Hemispheres and Moving Pictures Genesis - Selling England by the Pound Reo Speedwagon _ Hi Infidelity Prince - Purple Rain Billy Joel - The Stranger
I am not a big fan but can appreciate if a song is good even if I don't like it myself. While they did have many songs/albums that were great, I think because of their status, I guess you would call it, much of their stuff gets overrated. I just tried listening to Fixing a Hole, She's Leaving Home, Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite, Lovely Rita and maybe I am tone deaf or something but I just don't get the praise that is always piled on. Granted I am more into a little heavier stuff but I would go with Hendrix Are You Experienced, Who's Next, Zep 4 and a bunch of others before Sgt Pepper
I was going to list Kiss Alive as one of the best live albums of all time. That was my first Kiss album.
Pretty good list. Throw in the Floyd albums previously mentioned. I'd add in Black Rose - Thin Lizzy. Personally I think it's their best album along with Live and Dangerous, which is the best live album of all time for me hands down.
That's definitely worthy. I kind of factored in what the album meant at the time. Plus there a few songs I really dont care for on Revolver. By the way, I grew up a huge Beatles fan. I think I have about 15 albums on vinyl that I bought between ages 12 and 14. Revolver is a great one. So is Rubber Soup and Abbey Road. I love them all even though I rarely listen to them anymore.
