I didn't say that I wanted him to be cut. RIF. I said he "could" be cut. Big difference.

Gotcha. COULD be cut. Let’s agree that anyone COULD be cut…. Who WOULD you cut?

    You’ve said you’d draft 2 DL
You’ve said you see us carrying 8 DL

I gave you a list of the top 8 DL on the roster (I didn’t include Shepard).

This isn’t a trick question. If you think the rookie then so be it.

Wow, thanks for the link. The thing that stood out to me besides for the Gesicki part, is that that the highest team other than Miami in 2 TE was Green Bay

If they draft an NT like Travis Jones or Phidarian Mathis, I'd cut Shepherd and Rankins. Solomon and the rookie should be able to handle the spot. On obvious passing downs if neither Solomor or the rookie were able to get much pressure, I'd put JFM or Marshall at that spot beside Q on obvious passing downs.

If Marshall didn't show significant progress in TC and I needed the roster spot elsewhere to keep a good player, he would be cut and if he passed waivers, would go onto the PS. You can't give him forever at the expense of better players at other positions. If he's developed and looking really good, then maybe I keep him and if Q asks for too much money next offseason, I consider letting him walk and keeping JFM and Marshall as my 3T DTs. With limited roster spots, we can't afford to keep three 3T DTs unless all 3 play at a high level vs the pass and also play the run well. Even then, I'd probably trade one to another team for a draft pick or for a player at a position of need.

I don't believe Shepherd would be a cut, because he is a inexpensive depth player

    Nathan Shepherd DE $1,035,000 $50,000 - - - - - ($50,000) $945,000

Inexpensive is not and should not be the reason for taking up a precious roster spot with a player. If a team is hamstrung by the cap, then they have to keep inexpensive players over better players who are more expensive. The Jets are not hamstrung by the cap. They have plenty of cap space, and as you yourself pointed out above they can quickly add another $20 million roughly in cap space. Why would they keep an "inexpensive" player who isn't very good and who is a penalty machine? At the very least, his dumb penalties last season enabled the opposing team to sustain drives, and they may have cost the Jets a win or two. He was brought back only for competition and insurance. The only way I can see him making the final roster is if either Saleh and JD suffer heat strokes or 3/4ths of the DTs the Jets have on the roster suffer serious injuries and are lost for the season.

Technically they both can be truthful reports.

That's Mims, Moore, and who are the other two WRs?

I think it is DJ Montgomerey next to Mimms and I am guessing Jeff Smith is the last receiver.

Gotta wonder what Joe Douglas thinks of Denzel Mims at the moment? Does he think he can step in and take Keelan Cole's spot as the #4 WR? Does he think he is more of a #5 or #6 WR? Does he even want him on the roster? Interesting. Some WR's take big jumps in Year 3.

New Orleans just received Philly's number 16 and 19 pick .... Rumored to be working on a trade with the Jets.

I would think of Mims as a draft pick lottery ticket this year…Not expecting too much but a chance that he can turn it around

Interesting….I’m guessing they move up to 4 for those 2 picks?

This is true. I read earlier on NFL net that we were going to offer the #10 for Metcalf but the Seahawks wouldn't take our call. SO we didn't technically offer it, but wanted to. They also claim that the Hawks would probably want more than #10.

Where did you read the Jets part? Admittedly I've been traveling for a huge work event the last week (got to meet Zeke and Micah Parsons and be in a real football stadium) so I've missed a ton but I didn't see the Jets rumor at all.
