A lot of great receivers weren't fast. Andre Johnson, Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald to name a few. Even our own Jericho Cotchery, although not great, was a pretty good WR for us and did not have great speed.

The jets waited until 12 receivers were already off the board before choosing one. That won’t be the case if you pick one in the second round this year. There MIGHT be 5 off the board by the time the jets pick.

We have the opportunity to get the one we want. Go get him. There are going to be 5-7 WRs taken from picks 8-35. Why get the 7th 8th or 9th best one? Time to actually go help the young QB. Enough already.

I think we need to take him in Rd 2 if we want him.

I was responding to someone who said he’s fast. He’s not. I never said he’s not good, even though he def wouldn’t be the guy I’d take.

Not that they're all going to be available, but assuming Brown, Metcalf & McLaurin were all made available for trade, what would be the consensus order of preference? My gut says if they are made available, they're all looking at contracts and trade compensation in the same ballpark.

I don't give a crap about the 40-yard dash. It's what he does on the football field that's important, and he outran DBs who had the angle on him and DBs who initially were right behind him. He is a LOT faster than 4.55.

My order of preference is the order in which you listed them. I think you're probably right about the contracts/compensation.

Bc it’s possible to miss on a 2nd rd pick but not a 1st rd pick?

    The order you listed them.

I like Metcalf but AJ Brown brings something else to the team IMO, though it is a case of 1a and 1b rather than a 1, 2 situation with them talent-wise. not fussed about McLaurin tbh.

I think that depends a lot on who best fits the offense they want to run, and who might have the best chemistry with Zach (if that can be derived), and then of course the terms of the deal. I have no way of knowing any of that, so I'd go with whatever JD thinks is best. But in general, getting a WR like one of these before the draft would be huge.

What if the one we want/rate the most is George Pickens. Should we draft him 4th overall because he is the one we want the most and we have first choice on the WR?

I thought he looked slow on tape even before the combine.

Slow WRs don't outrun DBs with the angle on them. You either obviously didn't want much game film of him. He routinely outruns DBs following a catch, both those who are right there at him when he makes the catch and those who are downfield and have the angle on him. Slow players can't do that.

Whaaaat? Dude. Andre Johnson was fast. He ran a 4.4 flat and averaged 21 yards/catch as a senior.

Fitz is kind of a bad comparison for anyone since he’s one of, if not the, best receiver prospects of all time.
