I don't see Walker, Elam, or Leal being Jets picks at all. I don't want any of those 3 players, and I hope the Jets don't. I would not be happy with any of those 3 players.

Walker has little experience at Edge, little production at Edge, and only has one rush move, the bull rush. It could be years before he was ready to contribute in a signifcant fashion. The pick has to be Jermaine Johnson at #9.

I like the pick of Wilson at #10, but would be happy with Burks or Williams also.

The Jets only have room for 6 CBs on the roster. They like Reed, Hall, Echols, Dunn, MC II, Guidry, and Hardee and aren't ready to give up on any of them. As it is, they're going to have to try to sneak Dunn onto the PS. As I've steadfastly maintained all offseason, CB is not a need. Any upgrade would be minimal, and it would be a net zero gain, as they'd have to lose one of Hall or Echols. With adding the 40th pick, the Jets could take two WRs early. At #35 the pick should be Watson. At #38 the pick should be Dax Hill if he's there, if not, it should be Lewis Cine or Jaquan Brisker.

With Leal only weighing 283 lbs., he sounds like a 3T DT. The Jets currently have at least 3 (Q, JFM and Marshall) and maybe 4 (Rankins) on their roster. They need a run-stuffing DT/NT who can also pressure the QB. That isn't Leal. IMO the pick at #40 should either be Travis Jones or Devonte Wyatt.

Also, why would the Seahawks trade up for Willis? I don't think he is the type of QB who fits what Seattle wants to do (run the ball mostly and play D), and I don't think he would be any happier in that scheme than Russell Wilson was. I think Pickett is a much better scheme fit for what they want to do on offense.

Walker has the very very similar measurables, college experience, and combine results as Thomas. I think they go for a different type.

I'd love to trade down to that range from 4. I'm really intrigued by Dax Hill - I think he could be a great piece for this defense. It would be a surprise to me if he fell that far though.

For what it's worth, Pat Kirwan loves Hill.

Don't know about that. Thomas is a shade under 6'3 295 with 33" arms. Walker is 6'5 272 with 35.5" arms. Length is much more important on the outside because you're dealing with taller/longer OL.

Walker happened to play inside more because of how much size and talent Georgia had on their DL but in terms of measurables Walker is a perfect fit for a DE in Saleh's defense. The question is just whether or not he can develop his pass rushing technique enough to be effective there.

Yea, the 2” is why I went with similar instead of exact. He was about 275 at the combine, 280 last year with the raiders. I see the NFL site has him at 295, but I have 0 faith in that claim.

Thomas has the same length arms as KT and longer than Hutch so I’m not sure Thomas’s arm length is what kept him from living up to expectations.

Walker played outside tackle 3x more than he lined up a/b gap so I’m not sure where you’re getting the lining up inside part.

You can't say that Walker is a perfect fit for Saleh's defense, when he has little experience playing DE, had little production in college, and only has one pass rush move, a bull rush. You might say he has the perfect size attributes and athleticism for a DE in Saleh's defense, but he's far from perfect in the other areas.

Yes, they are similar that’s why I think he will be in the conversation. I’m not a Walker fan to be honest I just feel he fits what Saleh likes in a defensive lineman.

Ya, I’m not high on Walker either but I do think he would be a guy who fits the mold that Saleh likes. He plays both inside and out as well so I’m not sure they would limit him to DE. If they do move back with Seattle or Atlanta and he’s there I could see them making that move.

Elam just reminds me so much of Sherman and because of that I feel if he even slips to 35 they would consider it.

Leal I feel is the type of DT to help Williams make the next step to reach his potential. When he was his most disruptive at Alabama he had some beef upfront with him in Barmore.

I’m regards to Willis to Seattle and my logic there. He has the big arm they covet mostly. When you have deep threat receivers like DK and Lockett you need a QB with an arm to get it there. This is why they took Drew Lock back in the Wilson trade but I’m not sold that’s their new guy.

Yes, this was my logic as well. Remember this isn’t what I would do. This what I feel the Jets would do.

I don't see Walker being able to play inside in the NFL at all. With most OL 300+ pounds and most DTs weighing in the same area, how is a 275 pound DT going to fare? Not well imo. We have JFM who can play inside and outside, so I don't get why we would need or want another like him. To me that's the jack of all trades, master of none sceneario versus getting a stud Edge, or a stud NT.

The same thing basically applies to Leal. Leal is mostly a pass rusher. He had very few tackles at Alabama, and at his weight, I don't see him being able to clog the middle and hold his ground. I don't think that's what the Jets will be looking for at all at DT. They want a run stuffer who also can pressure the QB. IMO that's Travis Jones or Devonte Wyatt. Even Phidarian Mathis, whom I mistakenly typed in several posts rather than Wyatt, is more a pass rusher than run stopper.

I think Seattle is whack. I understand why they would want a big-armed QB to keep opposing Ds honest so they can run the ball, but imo no big-armed QB is going to want to play there. Those guys want to throw the ball a lot, not hand off 80% of the time. I think they'd be much better off with Pickett who is pretty accurate, and wouldn't be counted on to win games for them. He would be happier handing the ball off, throwing screens and short passes to move the chains.

I hope that they aren't even considering taking a CB in this draft. I think they should see how our CBs play with the addition of Reed, a year's experience in the system, and a better pass rush. They might discover that they don't need to use a high pick on a CB, but even if they do, they can do that next year or in 2024. IMO we need Edge, WR, S, LB, RB, and OL depth much more than CB.

To be fair walker played inside and out on one of the best college defences in history. Probably was the reason his numbers were not there.

I think in regards to CB it will depend on what happens in the first round. I truly feel if a guy like Elam falls it will be hard to pass on him but you are correct that it’s not a huge need.

Seattle is always a wild card in the draft that’s also why I threw it out there. Plus their love for strong arm QBs.

I just said in terms of measurables, not playstyle or technique.

I know that Walker played both inside and out at UGA, but I don't think he will be able to do that in the NFL. I'm sure that you're correct that it affected his stats. IMO he was better at DT than DE at UGA. Other than his athleticism, the one thing I like about him is that he showed up in big games. Not every high profile prospect does that.
