Just speculation I believe, as Metcalf is in a good spot to be traded. Although I'm hearing now that Seatlle wants to keep him....which of course could also be smoke so who knows. AJ Brown would make for a really interesting trade partner also, as is being reported by Cimini as a possibility. Not sure why Tenn would let him go though.
Yea. I think there was a quick reaction of fire sale in Seattle but I doubt they trade metcalf. He’s a good young player. I reason to move on form him. Same with brown in Tennessee, can’t see why they would get rid of him when the south is basically theirs for the taking
I think AJ Brown is a 2023 fantasy. They don’t have a 5th yr option for him. If he says he is 100% wanting to sign with his old college pal and the Jets, the Titans can either get some draft picks or use a $20mm tag and get nothing in 2024. The second we draft a WR in the 1st the AJB fantasy is over.
This post article makes it appear that Tyreek Hill to the Jets looked almost like a done deal. The Chiefs had signed off and Hill and the Jets had worked out a contract. It was only when the Phins jumped in at the last minute when the deal went south. This seems to explain Connor Hughes reporting the last week. That not just the Jets but the league expected Hill to be going to NY. https://nypost.com/2022/03/24/tyreek-hills-agent-jets-were-almost-a-done-deal-before-dolphins/
Wow! I don't know what to think. Hill would have been very exciting and certainly helped Zach and made the offense a lot better. I would have hated giving up those 3 picks however, and would have had a hard time rooting for him. This just makes me hate Miami again. I had gotten to the point where I had stopped hating them like I do NE and Buffalo. Not any more. I hate them all equally once again.
Hard to believe AJ Brown is only 24 years old. Seems like hes been in the league for a while now. It would be a good move but I'm not holding my breath as Douglas has failed multiple times to pull something off, so, well see
Sounds like Hill’s agent is being nice about it so his potential future clients don’t get spurned by the Jets
I wouldn't say that. It could mean that, but the Jets can cut Davis after this season, so it would essentially be Brown, Moore and the rookie they draft this season as the top 3 WRs.
One thing that will often bear out after a situation like this is that the rest of the league has a price benchmark & knows we're aggressive. A team sitting on a comparable talent that likes the compensation package may initiate conversations with Douglass now. If a team like Tennessee, Seattle or Arizona thinks they may be better off with 2 high 2s & a bunch of cap space they will gauge Joe's interest in Brown/Metcalf/Hopkins, etc. A deal can pop up out of nowhere.
hamilton is a better prospect then sauce. he's actually either the best or 2nd best in the draft with him and hutch so still makes no sense why we would take sauce. he isn't a top 4 talent in the draft. by most rankings it's hamilton, hutch, KT, and ekwonu
I don’t think we cut CD; many think we will. Have you seen what WRs are going for these days? Id think part of the appeal for AJB would be CD. They played together for years.
Yes, WRs are expensive, but Brown would be worth it. If Davis doesn't have a great season this year, he isn't worth his contract, and the Jets would be nuts to keep Davis and turn down the opportunity to add Brown. Also, paying Brown, Davis and Moore would be impossible on the cap.
Regardless of haw CD plays, he’ll be gone by the time Moore is ready for a 2nd contract in the 2025 season. But there’s plenty of room to have AJB and CD on the same team again until then.
Yes, there probably is unless Qunninen gets a monster deal and there's some FA next offseason that JD wants to give the bag to. I was just saying that if we needed the cap space or if CD didn't play well and stay healthy this year, we could cut him. I don't think that would be a make or break for Brown signing with us. The key is he wants to play with Moore.
Sure, we will have many many cut options. I don’t think Q will be getting a bag next off-season regardless of how he plays. 4 years of mediocrity doesn’t scream “huge investment” to me.
I agree Hamilton is a very interesting prospect, as is Sauce. Having 2 picks, with trading up or down being possibilities, either prospect could be in play. My only point being I wouldn’t dismiss any player with the notion we don’t need that position. In the late rounds sure. But in the top 10 it’s all about landing best talents for me.
For one thing Q play was never mediocre, may be not pro bowl level but far from mediocre, secondly, this season has not started yet and I think it will be his best, surrounded by real edge rushers for once. And yes we should pay him what the market dictates.
