This entire situation is a reality check.

Lets look at it this way. The Chiefs are a very good team. And they now have two 1sts, two 2nds, two 3rds, and two 4ths this draft. And Reid is a master at finding talent below round 3.

DO you really think JD has a chance of ever building a team that can compete with them? Especially in the post season.

We should have traded the #2 last season to the eagles and began building a genuine winner. We'd have a better roster right now. We'd have a much more promising draft staring us in the face. And we'd already have a young and solid #1 and #2 WR.

Instead were trying to give away multiple high picks and a massive contract for one player who isn't "that tall WR" we supposedly need.

Loser franchise stays losing. Keep rooting for tanks and we will never have elite players pick us

    Why?

KC accepted our offer of two seconds and a third for Hill and a fourth, how did they blow it by not offering the #ten?

I'm bummed. This one hurt much, much worse than the Cooper or Woods deals.

Sadness...such is life as a Jets fan though.

When you are about to sign a multiple year contract for many millions then it would be odd to go and sign somewhere you wouldn't be happy about for another million or two.

Then again easy to say when you haven't got it lol

How do you figure? The Chiefs accepted our offer. Hill refuses to sign an extension with us. Are you suggesting that we should have offered even more and somehow Hill would have said yes to the Jets? I really don't think you understand what went on here, not that I am surprised.

That's what we said about Adams.

If no one wants to play here that reflects on our coach, our GM, and our ownership.

No one should get a pass for that.

I misread the situation. If we offered the 10 is it possible they don't accept fins offer? I edited again because I did not know he didn't want to go to the Jets. If so, irrelevant conversation

Maybe Hill just didn't want to play for the Jets for whatever amount of money. Could have been using the Jets as leverage.

We have got to draft a frigging pro bowler THIS year. I don't even care at what position anymore. Get us a stud. Our lack of talent roster stands out like a sore thumb to other teams/players.

That exactly what happened. It was up to Hill and he wanted to play for Miami. I don't understand why people can't wrap their heads around that simple fact.

The temperature on JD's chair just went up a few degrees. He can explain another losing season as part of the rebuild but he'll have a hard time trying to justify not addressing the WR spot either in FA or the Draft. He can't go dumpster diving again either for FA talent although he may not have a choice given all the A-list pros are mostly gone. If he trades out of the top 10 for additional picks, he'll be ridiculed and eventually run out of town if the team doesn't start showing progress.

So many threads . So many sites. Everyone has an opinion. But if its true Hill nixed NY for Miami, who can blame him. He is now set for life and will live in a zero tax state with a far better climate. As I said in another thread, JD competes against 31 other teams and against players' desires. Begs the question of should the Jets have made an offer at all knowing what Hill would demand. That is an interesting question. Football teams are a zero sum game, every addition requires a subtraction, there is a theoretical salary budget and the assets on the team are constantly diminishing, except for compiling draft picks. Even there, the value of future draft picks (past the current year) should be discounted just like future cash flows in a business. There are very impactful decisions a team makes concerning trade offs when acquiring an asset at Hill's cost.

I'll be honest. I think we dodged a bullet not landing Hill. To me it would have been close to giving up 3 2nds for Sam.

We got to be careful that our obsession with helping Zach doesn't become our downfall.

FTH....Tua will underthrow him by 20 yards. Keep building through the draft, JD.
