100%. With DK I had him as a top 10 pick and couldn’t believe he fell because of a 3 cone drill. His tape was awesome and I just couldn’t believe it. Raiders with speed over skill was classic Raiders I completely believed that. LoL
same here. i wanted him so badly during that draft he was on my short list of players the jets should trade back into the 2nd for. we could have given up a 5th to move up 5 spots for metcalf instead we took polite and released him before camp started
I know.. it made me sick.. sometimes I just don’t understand how these GMs/scouts can’t see the obvious.
you say that but to be fair i've been wrong many of times and sure you have too. even looking at burks. you see it. something obvious to one isn't obvious to another. I thought mims was obviously not a good WR in the 2nd many thought he was including JD. I think burks is a big mistake in the 1st.
Ya your eye for talent is a bit questionable if you don’t like Burks film. It’s by far the best tape and is a super clean prospect to boot. Nothing absolutely nothing hints at bust with Burks. Where all the other receivers have bust flaws. Wilson and Olave were schemed open by Day. London had ugly drops and got shaken up a lot with a reckless playing style. Williams had the unfortunate knee injury. Pickens had the injury. Dotson is one dimensional deep threat. Burks has no weakness like any of the above. Just a true baller that played all over the field in the best division in college football, with no injuries and excellent character off the field. He’s a gem.
I mean i've heard the same complaints when i hyped up lamaar jackson, deebo, amon-ra st brown, tony pollard, josh allen and many others. and when I pooped on mayfield and fields. But i've been right more then i've been wrong. and I have been wrong so not saying I won't be here. but with WRs i'm probably at like 90% in calling busts and finding gems in the past 3-4 years edit: and also mims. lots of people shit on me for not liking the mims pick and saying his film didn't look good at all but turned out I was right there too sadly.
I got crapped on for Josh Allen and DK a lot too. So I feel you there. When it comes to receivers I had Micheal Thomas as my favourite receiver in his respective class and I was laughed at. I remember guys were drooling over Corey Coleman and Doctson lol and I didn’t see it at all on tape… I had Devante Adams as a first rounder in his class only behind Evans, Beckham and Kelvin Benjamin (who was a miss). However had Adams in front of cooks, Mathew’s and Watkins. So I’m pretty confident that my WR eye for talent is solid. Well I guess we’ll see in a few years on Burks vs London. I’d be shocked if I’m wrong here.
I liked Harry and was so so on Mims. Harry I thought could be like a Mike Williams type receiver. Big, tall and could go up and get it. London reminds me a lot of Harry. Mims I thought was real smooth but felt he couldn’t run routes. It was possible that was because of the system at Baylor that had Corey Coleman also deceive everyone so my alarm bells were already up.
yeah we seen the same on mims. harry I liked a little too but I don't see him as london. he looked like a better version of burks which scares me even more on burks. london's film is way different. burks was force fed and his 1 main attribute I like is his YAC. he runs hard with the ball in his hands but outside of that I don't see a lot good on film and for our system i'd rather use those type of plays to more and berrios who are more shifty. I want a downfield big guy who gets open and wins contested cacthes and london is more of that then burks to me but i'd rather go defense in the 1st and grab christian watson in the 2nd and a DT. that leaves 4 and 10 being open to options like johnson, KT, hamilton.
Come on now... I don't blame you for liking Burks, I think he's a decent enough prospect. To say that absolutely nothing hints at him not working out though? When I first watched film of him, long before the combine, I thought he lacked short area lateral quickness and suddenness. The combine made me more confident in that belief. Burks was quite clearly more lumbering on tape than the other WR prospects this year. He's got good size, but even his size isn't as good as we thought it was pre-combine considering he came in shorter than expected. I don't think he's big enough to beat DB's with size and I'm not sure he's quick enough or a good enough route runner to beat them with quickness. Burks can and does box DB's out but I don't think he's going to be winning jump balls consistently given his good but not great height and bad vertical. For the record, I don't think London is quick or fast either, I just think he's probably about the same as Burks there but he's also 2 inches taller so I think he can beat most DB's purely with size. As a former D1-level basketball player he's also adept at winning jump balls. Watching Wilson I think it's pretty clear he's the best pure receiver in this class, but he gets understandably knocked for lack of size.
I don’t see bust potential. I think his floor is very high due to his versatility and hands. He lined up everywhere on the field and was a go to guy in the best division in college football. His football speed is what I see on the tape combined with excellent hands. I couldn’t care less about his track speed. When you destroy a Nick Saban D it shows his ilk as a top quality receiver. His size to me that is impressive is his girth not his height. He is built thick. He produced an excellent resume of staying healthy along with a clean personality off the field I had Wilson as my top guy early in the process but what made me change my decision is the Day schemed Wilson and Olave wide open especially with Fields and that worries me a bit. Burks was doubled and SEC teams schemed to try and stop him but had little success. He just screams stud to me.
I want nothing to do with Watson. Fast rising Division 2 guys scare the crap out of me. Especially when he wasn’t even an All American in division 2. I think he was a track star. London is a one trick pony that is fragile and got shaken up a lot in his career. I think he is a bust. Mark my words BUST. Same with Watson he is also got BUST written all over him. If I’m wrong I’ll own up to it but I watch too much film and trust my eye for talent. Both those players are land mines.
Watson looks really clean on film though. normally i don't do workout warriors/late risers (for example not a fan of walker) but he's the 1 exception to me over the past 5 years. His lower stock was a knock on the competition he faced and not him. I think he made it look too easy so people disregarded him. london is not a 1 trick pony. not sure where you get that from. he's a better contested catch then burks, has YAC ability even with agility and not just power. he's more agile and a better route runner then burks. his hands have been iffy. I'm not saying he's clean or that i particularity like london, but I like him over burks. i'd much rather take watson at 35 if he lasts and if he doesn't that means dotson falls and i'd happily take dotson.
I disagree. Watsons film is such a small scope of work. Plus his fast riser status and lack lustre credentials. It also bugs me he didn’t transfer if he’s really that good… I just don’t like it. Seems like a land mine. Not sure why it’s always a comparison to Burks with London’s comp with you.. I was Just talking about London in my last post and why I feel strongly he’s a bust candidate.
just a comparison because they are 2 top rated WRs they jets could pick. that's all. they seem to be the 2 most talked about here too. I understand your concerns with watson and they are valid
I like KT at #4 but the hype around the ND S makes me think of Taylor Mays. There's just no good reason to take a S at #10 imo. As good as Jamal is/was, you need a team around him.
