Ultimately one has to have balance, but if one tries to build balance while one is rebuilding, it can take longer to start winning, it can cause one to neglect taking players that one should take, and it takes longer for offenses to come together than it does defenses. IMO in an offensive league, offense HAS to come first. The problems were myriad last year: Zach was a rookie as were a number of key players and MLF, there were injuries to key players, the OL sucked early, lots of passes were dropped, and play calling was awful initially. With a year's experience together, the OL fixed, and everyone healthy, things should be much better this season.
By not worrying about QBs and putting up better teams than the ones they play for List has 7 QBs on it and of the 7 only 3 made the playoffs
LOL, How is Josh Allen just solid? Or Jackson? Who's worried about Mahomes not continuing to play like Mahomes and being a top QB?
It all comes down to QB. If Zach takes a Josh Allen sized leap, the Jets will be right in the thick of the playoff race. They need more talent to be a legitimate threat in the playoffs, but if Zach plays at a top 10 QB level, they'll be playing meaningful football in December. If Zach plays like he did last season, the Jets will be selecting at the top of the draft once again. I like how the team has come together with free agency, but it really doesn't matter if we get zero production from the QB position.
How will the Jets overcome the AFC elite QBs? Ans: Sack Exchange Part Deux. And fortunately, we have the right GM and HC for the task. If you can't beat the thru the air, beat them into the ground.
Continue to improve the team. Get in the playoffs and do your best in the playoffs. Do this year after year and you win a SB. You never know what will happen with other teams. Players retire or their skills deteriorate. There are injuries, etc. This is very dynamic league.
This is exactly it. It's all about Wilson playing like the #2 overall pick, and if he plays like he did in the 1st half of the season, nothing else will matter. They also need to get more guys who are good at football. Joe D needs to hit on the draft like he did last year, and these free agents need to pan out. The free agents so far look good on the surface, but they did last year and the year before, too.
All we have to do is win the division. Win your division and you have a chance. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
I'm not worried about it. I firmly believe that Zach will develop into one of the top 10, if not top 5 QBs in the NFL. I believe that JD will continue to add talent via the draft, trades, and FA, and that players we have already drafted and will draft, will turn into stars in the league, and we will be a team that other teams and their fans worry about, rather than the opposite.
That was a long time ago.. Who do you think will be in the SB first.. Bills or the Jets? Keep in mind the Bills have been to 4 SB's.. The Jets have been to only one back in the Jurassic Age of the AFL/NFL.
I think most of the replies are off. In order to compete with the elite qbs, you also need an elite qb. Without that, no amount of pass rush or “building around” the qb is going to help, imo. Either Wilson is that guy or you need to find the next one, but until other teams have one, they won’t be going anywhere in the afc for a long time.
The Bills should have been in the Superbowl last season. The stars aligned had minimal injuries and they were playing their best football in Dec and January. That is hard to repeat, they also lost their O-Coordinator we will see if they can repeat that success. I think this is a Superbowl or bust year for the Bills.
Their defense should be enough to get them to the AFCCG. The Jet defense with any luck isn't mailing it in before Election Day. Point is.. The Bills are trying to get in the SB while the Jets are trying to be relevant. Lets just get off our high horses and realize our place in the AFCE pecking order.
To answer the OP's question, to add Tyreek Hill!!!! Zach is going to be much better this season and prove all his naysayers wrong. Give the Jets one more offseason to complete upgrading their starters and improving depth, and watch out NFL!
Good post. The Bills with their defense should always have a shot plus Allen really showed a lot in the playoff game against KC. From a Jets standpoint we are in a very bad spot. Every team in our division is really good. I would be happy to go from 0 division wins to winning a few division games per year. We need to make that next step. Put the Jets in the NFC and they are a playoff contender but in the AFC east we will be nothing until we can learn to start winning division games. I would be really happy to simply graduate upwards from being the worst in the division.
