I’m not dismissing him, I can see the talent and the draw to him, if JD wants to grab him then I’ll support it, but in my opinion he’s not a top 5 pick. I’m no scout, and you have some good takes on a lot of the information that’s discussed on the forum.

I’m not being a contrarian just for the sake of it, I would rather they take JJ at 4 if they are going to surprise people with the unexpected selection.

Do you think Sauce or Hamilton are better than him at 4?

Yes, I’ve been on team “draft an EDGE at 10 or after a trade down” for a long time.

JD has a plan and I’m confident he’s going to stick to that plan, I can only speculate on what that plan.

If Hutch is there, he’s the best of both worlds, character and positional value.

I’ve been on the Sauce ladle for a while but after adding DJ in FA, a pick of a CB is giving up on the late round developmental picks from the last couple years.

Hamilton may add the least “positional value” but grabbing a “generational talent” in a position of need makes too much sense.

    #1 Hutch
    #2 Trade for inside the top 15 for a 2023 1st
    #3 Trade inside the top 8 for a 2022 2nd
    #3 Hamilton
    #4 Sauce

When anyone of our GangGreen members actually get hired by a professional football team as head scout for their scouting department, then I’ll worry about going against their opinions.

I also have had this feeling that a QB will get pushed up in the top 5. A trade could very well go down at 2 or 4. Some team will fall in love with Willis/Pickett

I do believe some teams will go QB hunting.

QB is by far the most important position and has way more value than any other player and if you like a guy you go get him! It's not because we don't need a QB that it applies for all NFL teams. If per consensus Willis is the top QB we should (IMO) be open to suggestion to trade one of our picks at the right price.

I don't see it at all.

I know support for Lawrence has rightfully been the MO of this Jaguars offseason, but after tagging Cam Robinson a second time and throwing a big contract to Scherff, I just don't see them using OL at pick 1

I’m sure you’ve heard the argument before.

    - Cam is good but not great
    - An OLine is only as strong as it’s weakest link (the Jags have many weak links)
    - They don’t want TL to become Luck.0
    - New offensive coach is used to having a strong OL

The odds are slim, Balkke likes to draft D. I get it.

With the AFC as stacked as it is, the Jags should know they have a good chance of picking in the top 5 next year. Hutch is said to be a step below Watt and the Bosa Bros. A DE coming out next year is a step ABOVE the BBs.

It’s a better move to draft OL but the chances are slim Balkke makes a good move.

You rank OL as the Jets 3rd highest need despite having 5 NFL quality starters…. but you don’t see the possibility of the Jags (who have 2/3 quality starters at best) drafting one to protect their golden boy?

I also think the Jets taking a OL at 4 is largely misinformation, possibly to try to get a team (Giants? Panthers) to move up. With all of the resources dedicated at T/G the only way I see it is a Becton or Fant trade follows.

Yes, I have OT high, but as I said it factors in depth. For depth reason, OT should absolutely be a high need, but you're not using a top 10 pick for a 3rd tackle and if you trust Becton so little that he's your 3rd T, you're better off trading him.

I’m not disagreeing with your logic; I’m suggesting you use that same logic to open up to the idea of the Jags drafting an OT at 1. They need starters and depth. OT at 1 is an option

I agree. I just wonder what Douglass' price would be in a Becton trade. That likely is dictated where he would slot among the draft eligible OTs. Would a team be willing to give up a late 1st or early 2nd for Becton? If so, I could see Douglass drafting a replacement OT at #4 or #10 if he's BPA.

It’s definitely possible. A team like Philly could afford/want a player like Becton.
