But would Adams have agreed to extend here? All reports said he wanted to play w his former college teammate & roommate Carr again
It was Mac or Tanny who brought in those WRs. JD is not going to bring in a player with poor character like those clowns. There was great production with Brandon Marshall, and there would be with Robert Woods. I agree that Wilson doesn't need any turmoil, but that wouldn't be an issue with Woods. Yes, there are other areas where the D can be improved, but NONE OF THEM are as important as developing Zach. Woods isn't what we wanted, but he would be a huge plus for Zach and our offense, and we may have gotten lucky by having him become available. The Jets may not try to trade for him, and even if they do, we may not get him, but I'm hoping we will. It would also set us up for the draft where we aren't forced to take a WR in the 1st round and could take two D players in round 1.
Evan Roberts needs to do his homework. The ONLY team that Adams was going to sign with this offseason was the Raiders. He played in college with Derek Carr and wants to finish his career playing with Carr. He has always wanted to be a Raider. He bought a house in Vegas next door to Carr. GB offered more than the Raiders. The Jets could have offered what Watson got in Cleveland, and Adams would have refused and signed with the Raiders.
Everything I heard says Adams wanted to play in Vegas…it wasn’t a matter of trade offer that we could have given. that being said, I do think it’s ALWAYS about the money. Watson had turned down Cleveland and it looks like they upped the offer and guess what, all of a sudden Cleveland seems like a mighty fine place to play after all.
Michael Nania? Who the hell cares what Michael Nania thinks? He's a fan boy with an ego problem - he's not Pop Warner, Vince Lombardi or Bill Parcells. He's just a fan with an opinion and too much time on his hands. Not paying big bucks for an old Mercedes that still might look good but has a bad engine, no brakes and a lousy transmission.
Nice post. I have not followed things as well as you and others. but for now here are my thoughts; 1) I am getting the impression that the jets and others like T. Walker more than KT, and Walker could be picked by the jets at 4 or 10 2) I would have been more adamant about WR in round 1 if Berrios had not resigned and Moore would then play more slot 3) I have also heard that the jets like their current crop of LBs and frankly that scares me--I hope they draft a LB in the higher rounds (1-3) 4) I also think the jets need to draft a big RB like Packers Dillion in round 4-5 to supplement Carter. Not a fan of Colman. 5) I Would not fall off my chair if the jets took S Hamilton in round 1 (but I might slide down pretty far). 6) Really happy with jets free agency thus far 7) Inexcusable that jets OL coach arrested for DWI last night--Supposed to be a leader of men. 8) If I were Saleh, I would give Ulbrich a short leash this year. Bowles went waaaaaaaaaaaaay too long with his pathetic DC. 9) If the jets trade down in round 1, I would kinda like C Linderbaum on the jets in he's available in middle of round 1. Too early for 4 or 10.
Do you think Adams, who has put up astronomical numbers the last 2 years, would come to NY with a young QB who's still trying to figure things out? I doubt it. Supposedly, he lives next door to Derek Carr in LV and wanted to play there.
X factor thinks it will be a 4th or 5th rounder and his salary is 13.5 million but he has a 3.5 mill roster bonus coming due on Sunday. So, if the Rams are going to trade him it has to happen before Sunday.
I guess it depends on your definition of big trade. The last 4 or so years Woods has been one of the most productive receivers in the NFL putting up comparable total numbers to Cooper and Arob. He is a great fit for the system coming from LAR, is a reliable route runner, runs the Jet sweep, and does not drop the ball. Rightly, so he has generated trade interest from at least 9 teams so far. He would be a great help to Zach and has no guaranteed money in 2023. In 2023 either Woods or Davis could be released.
Between the cap, team needs and who is rumored to be out there, this feel like Danielle Hunter, assuming of course he and the Vikings don't agree on a re-worked deal.
I agree that it's not the big trade that the thread title spoke of, but it would be a big trade in terms of helping Zach and the offense, and enabling JD to not feel like he has to draft a WR in the 1st round. There may have been or still be someone else in the background, or that possibility might have fallen through.
No, it's not always all about the money. GB's offer was bigger than the Raiders. Adams had always wanted to play for the Raiders, he played with Derek Carr in college and wanted to end his career playing with him again. In addition, he bought a house next door to Carr's house in Vegas. Adams was never going to sign anywhere else but with the Raiders.
Thanks. 1) The draft will be very interesting for a number of reasons: to see which Edge the Jets take, to see if they take a WR in the 1st round and if so, which one, to see if JD trades down or stays put, who will be available at each of those top 4 picks and who the Jets will take. I can't wait. We should come away with 4 VERY good prospects/players. 2) Right now we only have 4 WRs and one of those is Mims, We need at least 6, and none of them should be any of the stiffs we had last year - Jeff Smith, Tariq Black, Montgomery, and whomever else we had to trot out there after Davis, Moore and Berrios were all hurt. 3) Yeah, I'd be surprised if they don't take a LB, especially since there are several who are very good in coverage. 4) I think the Jets will add either a bigger RB or will look to add a FB. They could still sign a FB in FA. 5) LOL If that happens (but hopefully, it won't!), don't slide down so far that you hurt yourself! 6) Me too! 7) Yeah, I just don't get it. Is it their machismo or are they just that dumb? 8) I doubt they'll fire Ulbrich in the middle of the year, but they could, I suppose. I don't know who would run the D if they did. 9) Linderbaum would be a great add. He would be a fixture at C for the next 10+ years and we could cut McGovern and save a chunk of cap space for next year or sign another player.
Has anyone ever heard of a pro athlete - or anyone else for that matter, buying a house next to friend so they can be near each other? I know Adams and Carr were college teammates, but this seems like an exaggerated story. Even creepy. Of course in Nevada, “next to” might be 1.5 miles away. So, yeah I get that Adams likes the Raiders and had a rapport with Carr, but this story smells like a story for Adams to get that big contract he’s getting. I understand he wanted to be a Raider, but the other stuff sounds over the top. Maybe as a way to ease the pain of Packers fans.
