the league year started, we can't be over the cap at any point so in short, we aren't. we are sitting on 88 mil next year and 30ish mil this year so most of these deals are probably more loaded in year 2 to take advantage of that
Can we please address the back up QB too? Mineshew is fine. But there has to be some options later on.
Even though football is a team sport, I think 2 positions where it doesn't really matter about your character are Pass Rusher and Cornerback. Meaning, you can be "Me-First" like Revis, yet still dominate your position. Kayvon Thibodeaux might be me-first and selfish too, but if he gets to the QB and sacks him once or twice a game, I don't think any fan would complain. I think he would have to have true off the field issues for the Jets to pass him up, and I have not heard of any.
Are these stats based only on snaps in which the player was clearly assigned to rush the passer? Walker played the run a lot by design in the Georgia defense. I think it's intriguing that Walker produced more as a pass rusher in the Georgia defense than Johnson did while he was there.
I don't think we have interest. JD made an effort to sign people without injury issues and smith is coming off a year where me missed the whole season due to a back injury and had surgery on it. his market seems around 4 years 8-9mil a year. thats a big commitment for a guy who didn't play all year
thats a good spot for him. plays with kupp and woods and has a real QB and van jefferson is a great WR4
giants released logan ryan. he's a player we should look at. shouldn't be too expensive and made the switch from CB to FS the past 2 years and rarely misses a game. missed only 5 games his whole career and 2 of them were from covid last year
I got these stats from pff. They have something called pass rush win rate, pass rush snap counts (which is lower than overall snap count), total pressures, these are the numbers I gave. They also have something called, "true pass set", which I personally value less, because a "win" against the opponent means you outskiled them, and it should not be discounted regardless of exact pass set, but either way Walker is bottom of the barrel among top prospects on all of these stats. Also he has the lowest PFF pass rush rating of 65.8 among top prospects. Next is JJ at 75.9, then all other top prospects are between 86.9 - 93.3. Not trying to say ratings are exact measure or anything like that, but when you are far and away the worst in pretty much every advanced analytics measure, there is likely more risk.
Maybe, but having signed two vets already I think JD drafts a Safety (not Hamilton) to ensure some long term continuity.
joyner is on a 1 year deal and coming off injury and hasn't played in our system really. i'd like him more as a depth guy with davis if ryan and whitehead are the starters. I never want to see elijah riley on the field again for us lol
