Maybe. It was of no risk besides a 5th round pick and 20M that the Jets probably aren't spending unless they make a trade for a Danielle Hunter or sign Allen Robinson. He has almost no GTD money left. But like I said, it's done and over. I trust JD has a plan for WR.

Guy, neither you nor any of us have any idea about what may be about to happen. Davante Adams has told GB that he isn't playing on the tag. Maybe they don't have the cap space or willingness to deal with it and will deal him. I doubt it, but look at how wild and crazy the last few weeks have been. Would you have expected any of these crazy moves that have happened? Would you have expected a potential trade after the great FA we've had? I sure wouldn't have. This news comes as a complete surprise and shock to me. It may not happen, but it's exciting to think about. There are great WRs on other teams and some teams have two very good/great WRs. Even Brandin Cooks would be a great add. So would Metcalf. There were some rumors about Thielen a week or so ago.

I'd hate it, but maybe some team in dire need of a LT may be willing to deal their top WR for Becton, and then JD would take Ekwonu.

read it just fine and you sound like your complaining about not getting a WR like Cooper as if he’s a stud lol. My reading comprehension is just fine and I said what I did. You wanted us to trade for a inconsistent WR by giving up draft capital and paying him 20m amazing lol. Glad you’re not the GM

Guy, your comment has nothing to do with what you chose to quote.

I said FREE AGENT market. None of the receivers you listed are FREE AGENTS. Cooper is a better receiver than anyone currently rostered by the New York Jets OR available on the FREE AGENT market.

"Stud like Adams or Kupp? Not even close". Guess your reading comprehension isn't just fine.

And let's not act like a 5th round pick is something of note. Joe Douglas just traded Blake fucking Cashman for a 6th.

The 5th rounder was the "honey trap" that Douglas rightly didn't go for. The $20M was the actual trap. Even if it was only for one year it's money that couldn't be used on other moves - some of which he already made - or could yet be used for a Hunter or Allen or someone else who will at least play every game and every down and not take some of the off. Plus, reports are that he's lost a step. If we could've had him for less than $10M maybe, but frankly IDT he's a Douglas-type player.

I know we're all desperate to get that true #1 WR, but we have to be careful not to jump at whoever might be available rather than who is the best fit.

i would absolutely, positively, make that move predicated we can resign him to a new long term contract from the onset. We would then focus the early draft to shore up the D at, Edge, LB and IDL followed with depth across the board.

Knowing the way JD structured the contracts, I don't think the 20M really mattered.

I'm definitely not disappointed or annoyed that the Jets didn't pull the trigger for Cooper, just don't think there's anyone else going to be available via trade. WR will have to be addressed via the draft, which was the point of my original comment. Sick of debating players on this bored that have no bearing on the Jets anymore.

Guy the whole conversation is about a TRADE not FA. You are the one who missed the boat bringing in FA when it has no bearing on the discussion, so I ignored it. As far as WRs go, FA is over except maybe a depth-type signing. You are the one who has the poor reading comprehension. You had issues with two posters and started talking about FA in a thread about a major TRADE!!!!

Not trying to be snarky, but now you see that trading Becton might be an option? Aside from Wilson right now, (and obviously any new guys just signed) no one is un-tradeable.

Sure, almost anything is possible. I just don't think it likely, but as I said in my earlier post to you, we aren't privy to what the Jets truly think about Becton and about what the issues are. I still would be shocked if the Jets were even considering trading Becton, and would be totally gobsmacked if they did actually trade him. Still, I have complete faith in JD. If he were to trade Becton, then I'd have to believe that there would be a solid, legit reason for doing so.

My original comment said there's nobody really left available for trade and the Jets missed the boat on trading for a good WR with Cooper.

    You essentially said he sucks.

I defended Cooper, saying he's better than any receiver that was/is available in FA and on the Jets roster. Hence why the trade is would've been a solid move IMO. This is where I brought FA into the conversation, if you actually read, you would've seen that.

It's funny how whenever someone replies and gets into a debate with you it turns into a fucking reading comprehension debate, he said/she said. I even told myself I shouldn't have replied to your original comment in the first place and I did so anyway. Do me a solid, don't reply to my posts anymore you clown.

ROFLMAO!!! Dude, you are the one who used the "reading comprehension" card on both Nyjets4eva and me first. Are you really that unaware of your own words? I just threw it back in your face since you were the one who went off the rails into FA when that was never part of the discussion, and you trying to act you knew that no one was available for trade when you don't have a clue.

    ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're a jackass bro. You're a worse poster than DWC ever was. I clearly mentioned FA when I was discussing why I would've traded for Cooper and why I thought trading for him was a good idea.

One thing to keep in mind regarding the backloading of contracts is we started with roughly 35 million of available cap space on Monday excluding money needed to sign draft picks. By my calculations we have spent a little over $75 million in average per year signings on the 16 players we have signed. Which means these contracts have to be quite heavily backloaded to move $40 million of spending from this year (plus whatever future spending we will need to fill out the roster and account for injuries minus savings we get from cutting a few players like GVR and Rankins) into 2022 and 2023's cap. I am a bit conservative in my spending habits and at least personally I have hard time imagining pushing another 20 million dollar salary into future year caps.

Forget it. You aren't worth it. Are you really that dumb? Yes, you mentioned FA but again, IT WAS TOTALLY IRRELEVANT TO THE CONVERSATION AND TO MY POST THAT YOU RESPONDED TO. FA is over as far as top WRs go, and there wasn't really much there to begin with. You're the knucklehead who thinks Cooper is a stud. ROFLMAO SMH

    Great reading comprehension.

Original reply to you... "Stud like Adams or Kupp? Not even close".

Again, in what way is that calling him a stud? That's the direct opposite. Good job reading there pal.

Ya--it can be done as you and others rightly say but its not the nyj MO to do it this way. Maybe they'll push it but I'm still thinking we're going to see some cuts or Crowder like renegotiations with such as Mcgovern.
