Ha well at least he made the tackle. The guys who replaced him just let em take it all the way to the house
Good for Marcus. I think the writing was on the wall after the whole DUI situation that he wasn't coming back here. Glad he finally got paid and best of luck to him on the Saints.
Douglas offered him a better deal prior to the tag. Maye refused. No chance of getting something in return last year as he got injured early in the season. Not sure what you wanted JD to do here. I don't think there is a correct answer when it comes to your opinion on his moves.
Wow I'm absolutely shocked he got a multiyear deal worth almost $10m/yr coming off an Achilles tear and potential DUI suspension. Also surprised the Saints paid that much for him given this and their cap situation. All that being said, even though I fully anticipated it, sad to see Maye go. He was a fixture on defense and a rare draft hit for the previous regime. Really solid, underrated player. If it weren't for the injury and DUI issue I think he would have been here longer term. Wish him the best and hope he recovers and has success in NO
prior to 2019 class, only Shephard me thinks...... From 2019 class: Q. Williams, Chuma Edoga, Cashman and Wesco. That list gonna get much smaller start of this season more than likely.
I gotta agree that Maye was no steal. I think the Saints way overpaid. Can't think of very many big plays that Maye made for the jets. I remember opening day of 2019 he dropped a sure INT right in his hands against the bills when the jets were ahead--would have sealed the game--bills came back and won.
They went from 25 year old Marcus Williams to 29 year old Marcus Maye off a torn achilles to save $4-$5 million per year. Baffling.
I wish Maye good luck and success. This guy started during some of the worst years this team has ever had and he always kept his chin up and stayed positive. Respect.
