I think your attitude and reasoning on this is totally off-base and over the top, and to be honest, disgusting.

Thanks for that. Now this makes more sense why JD was out. Initially I was under impression all he had to do is make a better offer, like maybe 15 per, so I thought this was a missed opportunity, but now we are talking 20+% premium. Given that, he made the right decision to go with Whitehead for 7 per instead, assuming we are not allowed to go over the CAP like NO for example, who can go well over already being well over :)

I think you need a nap. If you call what I posted "over the top" you ought to look in the mirror.

Becton doesn't need to be moved for the Jets to take Ekwonu over Hamilton (If KT is gone and they don't like JJ at 4). He is a better option than Hamilton for one simple reason: he is just as talented at a much more important position. And we do need another tackle. Moses was basically a starter last year. Imagine if Becton gets hurt again. Heck, pretty much everyone got hurt on Oline, and Ekwonu has versatility. If Becton wins starting job at LT, Fant can just be a really good depth piece, like Moses was.

Next year if both Becton and Ikem have great and healthy years, we can let Fant go and use the money to get a FA in another position. Hopefully we have a good year and top guys would want to come here. Or if Becton still struggles with weight or gets injured, then we can extend Fant. It's good to have options at the OLine.

With all that said, I am really hoping KT is there for us at 4, and JD runs to the podium to grab him.

@NCJetsfan just likes Becton and is an optimist, thinking he can regain and improve from his rookie form. I can understand that and don't want to give up on him either. If we end up with Ikey, my hope is that it is Fant who goes to the bench, and then next year we just don't resign him. I don't think Becton gets traded. He deserves a chance to come back in shape and show what he can do. Plus his trade value is terrible now.

However, I feel there is a fairly decent chance either he does not get in shape, gets injured again or Fant gets hurt, where I want to have another starting caliber tackle as a back-up, like Morgan was. Ideally, it would be a 2nd/3d round guy with KT as 4th overall. If KT is not there though, then I feel we need to with Ekwonu, just because of positional value, hence him being a BPA. If he is as good a player as he seems, things will work themselves out eventually.

Fant is more important to our line at the moment than Becton is. He's a better pass protector and he plays the more important LT position.

Trading a solid LT while we're trying to develop a young QB would be quite the move.

There is absolutely no reason to believe In that scenario of Fant being moved. All Indications suggest this CS likes Fant much more for their line than Becton.

You can just tell they aren't very optimistic of Becton at the moment. They could very well be done with Becton with the way they've talked about him In the media even.

Fant isn't In any danger of losing his job. That much Is obvious. He was probably our best overall lineman last season and Becton hasn't come close to a season like Fant just had.

Also, people are just reading the writing on the wall, man. Relax on this Me Vs the world mentality you got going right now.

Nobody's attacking Becton In a personal way, everyone just kind of see the writing on the wall that this CS and front office have already painted for us.

Nobody Is hating Becton that ive read, people definitely have their doubts. That's what happens though when players show up overweight, get hurt, and sit out more than they contribute. There are some obvious doubts right now. Rightfully so too.

    That's not hate.

I don’t hate Becton one bit, never have, I loved the pick and I would have called run plays all day to his side if I were the OC, when healthy he performed incredibly well, they didn’t call him Mount Becton for no reason.

However, you can discern how the CS feels about him, the OC, HC have publicly called him out. Saleh has made it official he lost the LT job to Fant, and said he has to win it back, I honestly don’t think he will win it back.

Becton showed he can play and has garnered no benefit of the doubt with this CS, any other young player who was out because of an injury doesn’t lose his job, he should not have lost his job as LT because of a freak injury, yet he did.

I could be wrong and hope that I am, but I get the feeling they are not going to have a lot of patience with him.

Don’t think this warrants it’s own thread. Figured this was coming… he actually played well when he was forced to start.

They’re going to have a chance to take at least one of two really solid edge prospects in KT or Jermaine Johnson; I’m not sure they take Hamilton knowing they need edge rushers. I can see a safety in the second round like Lewis Cine or Dax Hill.

With the way the WR market fell, it didn’t make sense to sign one. I’d love Garrett Wilson at 10 or Christian Watson at 35. They probably double dip at WR, maybe an Alec Pierce on day 3.

With how FA has played out so far, my thinking on the draft has not changed that much at the top.

I still think they take BPA in the trenches, probably KT or Ekwonu, outside shot they go for Jermaine Johnson if both of those guys are gone.

10th is where I have no clue. Do they really love London, Burks, or Wilson enough to take them at 10? Do they gamble on Jameson Williams' knee? Does Sauce fall to 10? If they take KT at 4 and Cross slips to 10, do they address both trenches in the 1st?

Lots of options with these first 2 picks and none of them sound awful to me.

I would not like Jermaine Johnson at either the 4th or 10th spot, I don’t think he’s that type of player. Guy is 24 years old and there are 21 year olds that are considered better prospects.

If Jermaine falls to second round or Jets trade back to mid or late 1st and he’s still on board then I can understand the selection there, but he doesn’t project as top ten prospect.

    It’s just my opinion.

Feeney seemed to hold up surprisingly well when forced to start and has versatility. More importantly, he has a mullet and crushes beer. Nice job to resign him.

We also brought back Tim Ward and Jeff Smith, two of the most generically named people ever. Ward is solid depth and I know Smith is a good guy and pretty versatile but he just reminds me of my absolute least favorite time to be a fan… The Adam Gase era.

I don't see any way Jermaine Johnson makes it out of the 1st round but I could be wrong. Also, he just turned 23 not 24, not like that's a huge difference but still.

Hopefully it's a moot point and we get Thibodeaux but things would get very interesting IMO if both KT and Ekwonu are gone by 4.

What’s a better outcome from the draft?

    1) KT and Wilson
    2) Hamilton and Wilson
    3) KT and Cross
    4) Hamilton and KT ( slim possibility but could happen with the way KT is falling)

I’m going with KT and Wilson

1 and it’s not even close. I will actively celebrate if we end up with those two.

So how would everyone like to wrap up FA? Feel like are "big moves" are done but I could see them adding a few more guys for relatively cheap (~2-4M range).

I think adding another vet TE (Maxx Williams, Gerald Everett, etc), some IDL depth (Linval Joseph, *gasp* Sheldon Richardson, etc.), some depth at LB (Kyzir White, Anthony Walker Jr., etc.), and with Moses now gone probably some depth at OT (David Quessenberry, Mike Remmers, etc.).

Also, wouldn't mind Allen Robinson on a 1 year deal....*ducks to avoid the shoes being thrown at my head*
