Depends on who falls but I would be surprised if we took more than one lineman with the first four picks. Not sure the value would be there.
Jets resigning Nathan Shepherd is my least favorite move. Nothing to get too upset about since he'll just be competing for a depth role, but wish they found somebody else for that role. So many penalties
dont have time to read throough the whole thread on my break but.. yeah, as long time Jets fans.. thats the bar, dont make me say WTF all the damned time... jajaja!1!
So far a great FA which is what I was hoping for. Someone said there's only $2MM or so left, but I think JD could cut some players and get some money. At this point, if he doesn't fill any more major holes, going into the draft I'd see: #4 - Thibodeaux or Ekwonu #10 - trade back to no farther than #20 and take either Devin Lloyd or Nkobe Dean because while the Jets say they're happy with who they currently have, an injury to one of those guys and it creates a massive hole again. #35 - Christian Watson WR #38 - TE, Edge, or OL depending on what they did at #4 and who's available. After these four picks they will have hopefully filled Edge, WR #1, LB, OL, or TE with studs, so their next pick would be whichever of those positions they didn't fill. From there it becomes a process of looking for depth, and possibly a PK.
No surprise Moses is signing elsewhere. The Jets seem pretty set with Fant and Becton starting with McDermott as their backup. Adding another OT prospect in the draft would make sense. He was a great signing last offseason though. Good opportunity for him in Baltimore.
Maybe.. Doesn't make much sense though to me with Fant and Becton penciled In as starters, and they just signed depth In McDermott. We obviously don't need anyone to play guard now either. I just don't see it unless they are giving up on Becton.
Would hate this now that we have Tomlinson. Fant and Becton will battle it out and we aren’t going to bench either of them for a rookie… and we aren’t benching the 4th overall pick.
This is what I believe will happen, this CS is not enamored with him and probably has no problem moving on from him. Hell, Becton might still be rehabbing come start of next season.
I wouldn't understand this at all. Where does he play if Becton is healthy? It's a somewhat big "if" but still. If we spend #4 overall on an insurance policy I hope JD gets fired before the next pick.
Not sure how anyone can pencil in Becton as a starting tackle. His injury was freak last year, but his rookie year he had a hard time staying on the field. Hoping they draft Ickey, and have Becton and Fant compete for a starting role. Whoever loses, trade, or if Becton is the loser have him sit another year as Fants contract is expiring.
I would have re-signed Moses, but really like Penning if they thinking draft. Would instantly improve our rushing attack. Hard to know what we have in Becton at this time, so can't put all eggs in that basket.
I think JD and Saleh have given up on Becton - just my hunch. IDK what ways they have of checking on his rehab progress, but if they don't think he's worked his ass off, they could very well look to trade him for picks and get his replacement in this draft. I would. That said, I'd be happy if Becton proved me wrong and came back in full force, I just don't think that's going to happen sadly.
I love the idea of Watson at 35 but I would really love to see the Jets take Watson along with another WR such as Wilson, Dotson or Wan'dale Robinson. I think the idea of the Jets drafting a LB in round one is really remote. Saleh was talking a few weeks ago about value positions with a 1st round pick and he said you never draft a LB in round one. Plus the Jets according to Connor Hughes like their LBs and think the problem is DT. That being said I expect the Jets to take a DT in round 2 or 3. They supposedly really wanted D. Jones but lost out to Denver. I think it is safe to say in the 1st seven picks the Jets will almost certainly take an edge rusher, WR and DT. Likely a TE as well. I would expect at least one OL in rounds 3 to 5 if not two. But, regardless of who we take we should get 4 to 5 impact players plus our new 4 impact FAs along with returning injured players Lawson, Becton and Joyner. Joyner could have a huge impact. He has a great resume as a FS and he compliments Whitehead really well. Add all that up and we should have 10 to 12 impact players that did not play last year. Almost, like a brand new team.
