Ah okay, yeah it’s always different on day one of free agency I remember arguing with folks who said Van Roten was a great pick up, just like they are today with Tomlinson
I think the Jags are spending like their drunk. But there are some arguments for it. Like the draft, maybe they targeted these guys before FA and went hard to get them? If they are getting who they think they need than that's something. They only had like 32 million to fill holes and help their 2nd year QB. That said, who cares, their the only team that's been worse than us over the last two years.
Maybe Ballke’s fighting for his job. I wonder if the Jags would trade their 2023 1st to move from 33 to the teens…
Osemale was coming off an injury/still injured. got traded to a team he didn't want to play on, then decided to have surgery. tomlinson hasn't missed a game in 5 years, chose to come here as a free agent, and has no pre-existing injury. it's apples and oranges
Included both guard positions and Brandon Scherff getting more than 13M/year, which puts him at 8. If you include center, he'd be tied for 10th amongst all IOL, tied with Jensen. The argument isn't so much that Tomlinson didn't get a bag, because he did. It's that the Jaguars gave 5M more at 18M, with a chance to get 21M, to a WR that has had 4 100 yard games in 4 seasons. Tomlinson is actually deserving of a contract like that whereas Kirk is not.
Interesting thought. Would you swap 10 for 33 in exchange for their 1st next year? It will probably be a top 5 pick.
The court of public opinion isn’t everything but look no further than the court of public opinion. Jaguars are rightfully getting roasted while you haven’t seen anyone outside of this website complain about the Tomlinson contract.
Even though I agree in this case, the public is really stupid though. The market value for Kirk was 8-11M according to some reporters, Jacksonville is just hilariously dumb.
I am quite happy with Day one. It is rare that talented guards reach FA. This year was a very strong year for guards and JD did not hesitate in shoring up the line. I also like bringing back Berrios at a reasonable amount especially looking at the money people are getting today. I am excited about our line. I expect us to look for value the rest of FA and not overspend signing a TE and DT seems to be the next two biggest priorities. I am pretty shocked how crazy high the signings were today. Jacksonsville reeked of desperation. I am glad we have a FO with a plan, who is frugal and even gladder that we now have what looks like a pretty good OL.
I don’t like this. Would much rather roll with what we have and bring along whatever cornerback we draft. Especially since a guy like Gardner can step in day one and start.
Tevin Coleman back. Nice move. He was surprisingly solid and a worthwhile retain. I'd like to see them add another RB on Day 3
Former Bengals TE C.J. Uzomah intends to sign a three-year, $24 million deal with the New York Jets, per sources. LOVE THIS SIGNING! This guy is a beast.
Solid Day 1 for the Jets IMO. Signed a top-10 OG, re-signed Berrios for a reasonable deal, and now adding Uzomah.
This would be great. Its a 2 mil a year raise for the guy but after last year I cant believe Cinn wouldn't pony that up? I hope its true.
very nice signing. he's a great receiver at TE. he's also an awesome and fun person and good locker room guy https://www.youtube.com/shorts/gP26vhfLNEo?&ab_channel=AyokunleAdewuya
