No, you're not. Only Moore is in the same time zone as Robinson in terms of talent. You don't know what Robinson would have done if he were on the Jets last season. It's just BS!
WR landry being released form broans DE clark is expected to be released from the chiefs RT daryl williams released by bills
Joe Douglas targets who he wants, sets a price, and if they go over, he is out. Not that complicated. He doesn't want to overpay or pay just to pay. It's a refreshing approach for the Jets Front Office. His #1 goal is to build through the draft and he has done a solid job of doing just that. 2022 will be a big step forward for the franchise, including some Free Agent moves.
Setting a number to limit reckless decisions in FA is a good thing. However, when you do this, you have to hit on the one-year flyer type deals you make, which JD has not.
I agree with you that we shouldn't want robinson. he's aging. will be 29 when the season starts and 30 is when WRs tend to start declining. with that said I don't think last year is a great indicator either. he was over 1k the 2 years before that in bad offenses and it was pretty well documented he didn't want to be in chicago anymore, he was playing on the tag when he wanted an extension and he pretty much quit on the season.
Weren’t the Jets one of the top teams to spend money in FA last year? How can people say JD is cheap and doesn’t spend?
It think it's a misinterpretation because he rarely goes after the top top guys. he typically goes after the ones right below them which get more reasonable contracts
Not crazy at all. The only way I'd sign Allen Robinson is if he got a Corey Davis level contract, and he's not, he's going to get Cooper money. Give me Russell Gage as the "Keelan Cole" type signing then draft a WR at 10 or 35.
Right - and who knows behind the scenes what's really happening. It's not Madden franchise where you just sign whoever you want. Just because they don't sign a player one thinks they should, doesn't mean they didn't try, that the player even had interest in playing here, etc. I try to keep this in mind when things don't go the way I wish
trubisky to the steelers on a 2 year deal. now they have 2 former 1st round busts (trubisky and haskins) plus rudolph who they drafted in the 3rd I don't think they will draft a QB anymore robinson wants WR 1 money. likely chasing 18+ mil a year you are correct there for sure.
The numbers don’t lie, if I spend $150 million on three players or $150 million dollars on one player, it’s still $150 million dollars I used trying to improve the team. The idea that he’s not spending money is the misnomer here, I see Twitter messages and news paper articles talking about how cheap he is, it’s like no one fact checks their information.
Even if JD were cheap (which he's not) that's better than the alternative. This is not MLB there is a cap so the path to success is value. You need to get more talent per unit dollar. Now some people like allocating more of that fixed pie to a given star and others don't.
again it's interpretation. not cheap overall but cheap when it comes to individual players. right now we see players get 18+ mil or more over and over. douglas never spent more then 15 on a player per year. 2021 lawson 15 davis 12.5 rankins, cole, davis 5.5 4 players were signed for more the lawson. the top edge and WR were dupree 18 mil and galladay 18 mil so he signed the 2nd tier guys and not the top 2020 fant 10 mcgovern 9 perriman 6.5 jenkins and desit 3.75 20 players were signed for more then fant I think that's the point. is that he doens't actually sign the top FA at a position but instead gets the 2nd or 3rd best guy
The biggest knock in him is his first draft class. Was it because of the previous CS, Covid reducing the amount of time spent scouting prospects, him being new to the position, or something else? We'll find out with this year's haul. When it comes to FA's, I want guys who will be motivated to play and not mail it in once paid.
Not sure who the Jets will target at WR. The thing is, the Jets are so talentless that a top of tier 2 type of player is a massive upgrade. I think the Jets will be in the market for a new slot receiver come the end of the day when Berrios leaves. Have a feeling JuJu ends up a Jet.
there is nothing wrong with signing T2 guys. it's obvious a help and improvement. I was just making the point that he isn't cheap, he just prefers value. I mean davis at 12.5 to me is way more value then galladay at 18.
